1970′s radio show “The Unexplainables”
From: Rob Galley
Hi Charlie,
A question about a 1970′s radio show on the armed forces radio called “The Unexplainables”. I have exhausted all my efforts through Google and have come up empty. My sister use to tape the radio shows when she was in Belgium and I can remember listening to them with her when she got back to the states. The tapes that she had have since deteriorated and cannot be listened to. We find ourselves often remembering some of the stories and have wondered if they are out there somewhere for purchase. I’m sure that she was not able to tape them all so there are bound to be stories we never got to hear.
Is there any info you could give me as to how to track this down. maybe you could put me in contact with someone who could help me.
Thank you for your time.

(NOTE TO ROB: To answer your question, I did an occasional feature on my show which was nothing more than a produced mysterious music bed and some production drop-ins that highlighted weird stories in the current news of the day. It was nothing more than a collection of stories we would find and then I would read them with the surrounding production as part of my show.
Unfortunately like so much radio material back then, I would just read them and toss them after the show. The Armed Forces Network shows were on big vinyl discs, and I never thought to ask for copies as some of the guys did. Little did I realize that I would wind up doing 6000 shows over a 25 year span!
By the way, I called the feature “The Unbelievable”…..I phased it out of my regular radio show around the year 2000. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.)
