After some weeks of media speculation that Today show co-host Ann Curry would be stepping down from her role, the journalist announced in an emotional goodbye that Thursday would be her last day. Rumors had been circulating that Curry was offered a $10 million deal to leave NBC one year early of her two-year $20 million contract. Curry said that she will be joining NBC News as a foreign correspondent and will produce news clips that will air on all of the network’s platforms, including Today. Reports are that Today show 3rd hour host Savannah Guthrie will officially be named Friday as Matt Lauer’s new co-host!

I have long been a great admirer of Ann and am sad that I will not see her every morning on Today. Matt said very eloquently what I would have liked to express. No one can replace Ann or do any finer work.
