“American Idol” had both Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler announced within 24 hours of each other that they won’t be returning for Season 12 of the long-running music competition! Thursday Steven Tyler released a statement saying: “After some long… hard… thoughts… I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back!” Aerosmith’s new album, titled “Music from Another Dimension” is slated to be released on November 6. And then Friday, Jennifer Lopez told of her decision to leave saying she had originally only signed on to do one year of the show, but stayed for two. “I didn’t know I would be so moved emotionally by working on the show and working with the contestants,” Lopez said. “It was just such a lovely surprise in my life to do it.” The show’s third judge, Randy Jackson, may also be on his way out. He plans to leave his judging job, and move into a mentoring role on “Idol,” a source told Us Weekly.
