"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Hugh Jackman is People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive"!

People's Sexiest Man Alive issue hits stands Friday, with Australia's Hugh Jackman taking this year's title. The sneak peak gallery shows that the obvious choices are covered — Daniel Craig, Twilight's Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron, Michael Phelps, and Javier Bardem. There's also a few semi-surprises: Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Joshua Jackson, and country singer Blake Shelton.

CODY LINLEY SHOWN THE DOOR IN THE "DWTS" SEMI-FINALS TUESDAY NIGHT!

Cody Linley, the Hannah Montana star who got the boot Tuesday night, took a few moments to dry his eyes (and hug a few teen fans) before answering reporters' questions.

"He'll be the next Brad Pitt, are you kidding?" Julianne Hough told us of her partner, Cody. "We're going to look back in 10 years and be like, ‘Oh, I danced with him on Dancing With the Stars.' "

"I'm excited for all the opportunities to come," Cody said after the show. "Thank you, Dancing With the Stars! It's been amazing. I don't know about the modeling thing, but definitely films are in my future. Music is my largest passion, so there will definitely be a future there for me."

But Julianne's brother, Derek, pretty much said good riddance. "Cody was great," Derek said. "My sister is gone, but she's got two trophies, so whatever!" (Hey, where is the brotherly love?)

Meanwhile, Lance and Lacey were freaking out over the good news that they'd made it to the very end. "We've been jumping up and down for an hour now!" Lacey told us. And Lance said he feels vindicated. "I made it to the finals, thank God! I'd get a lot of crap from Joey if I didn't make it. Guess he's not that much greater of a dancer than I am."

For next week's final, Lacey teases: "Lance loves hip-hop, so we did kind of an old-school theme early on in the season. This time it will be young and fresh, and a lot of our personalities are in it." Lance adds: "I think it will be playing on my strengths finally!" (Lance also took a jab at his sailor costume tonight: "I feel like Donald Duck!")

Kym and Warren are going with a different strategy. "We have lifts coming up," Kym reveals. "With Warren, I have to take advantage of his size. I want him to go crazy and show everyone his personality."

So what about Brooke and Derek's plan of attack? "I love our song!" Brooke hints. "It's going to be a big surprise, and Derek's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve." By the way, Julianne not-so-rudely interrupted Brooke and Derek's interview to make this announcement to you fans: "If you voted for Cody and me, vote for Brooke and Derek!"

JENNIFER GARNER OBTAINS TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST FAN!

Jennifer Garner could really use an alias about now. The actress has obtained a temporary restraining order against a 36-year-old fan she claims has been stalking her since at least 2002.

In her protection order dated November 7, Garner claims Steven Burky—described as 6-foot-1, 145 pounds, and blond with blue eyes—engaged in "obsessive and harassing behavior" that included sending her "packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country."

At Garner's behest, Burky has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from the 36-year-old star, husband Ben Affleck and their 2-year-old daughter, Violet, as well as Garner's nanny, housekeeper and assistant at all times. Burky, an L.A. native, has been barred from owning, possessing or trying to buy a gun or firearm.

In a declaration, Garner says her fears for her and her family's safety have increased over the last several years as Burky's letter writing has exhibited increasingly bizarre and even threatening behavior, and she believes Burky's obsession will continue to escalate unless ordered by the court to stop.

"He has now shown up at my private residence and has repeatedly expressed his belief that God has sent him a vision of me being persecuted in some manner that might result in my death," Garner says.

As evidence, Garner presented the court with a ream of notes and birthday cards from her No. 1 fan. In the letters, Burky apologizes for being out of touch, informs her he sent her a birthday wish "for every year we've spent apart" and professes his undying love for Garner.

The restraining-order request also includes a declaration by Garner's security guard, Dennis Bridwell, stating that Burky once approached the Catch and Release star at an event to give her roses and his contact information, and later tried to gain entry to her office claiming to be a monk.

Garner is also asking a judge to grant her a permanent restraining order. A hearing on the matter is set for tomorrow.

TAYLOR SWIFT'S "FEARLESS" KICKS EVERYONE TO THE CURB TO DEBUT AT #1!

Taylor Swift is doing mighty fine without Joe Jonas, thank you very much. Her new album, Fearless, debuted at No. 1. She sold more copies (592,000) than any other country act since the Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden opened with 711,000 in sales a year ago, and more than tripled the sales of Archuleta's eponymous debut.

Swift was also the top digital seller with 129,000 album downloads. That's the fourth highest tally since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital sales four years ago.

Swift is currently tied with, ironically enough, the Jonas Brothers for the most top 20 debuts on the singles chart this year, with five. But her new track, "White Horse," racked up 124,000 digital downloads last week, meaning she should pass her ex's band when the Hot 100 is released tomorrow.

Though he had to settle for runner-up yet again, American Idol's Archuleta still made a solid first-week showing, with his album selling 183,000 copies at No. 2.

The two Davids, Archuleta and season-seven victor Cook, originally considered a head-to-head matchup on this week's chart, but the two Idol stars are instead releasing their new albums in consecutive weeks; expect to see Cook's self-titled disc set be among the contenders for No. 1 next week.

Thanks largely to Swift, total album sales were up 27 percent over last week, but still down 24 percent relative to the same week in '07, when Alicia Keys' As I Am ruled.

Here's the top 10, per Nielsen SoundScan:

1. Fearless, Taylor Swift
2. David Archuleta, David Archuleta
3. Now That's What I Call Music! 29, various
4. Thr33 Rings, T-Pain
5. Twilight soundtrack, various
6. Black Ice, AC/DC
7. High School Musical 3: Senior Year soundtrack, various
8. And Winter Came, Enya
9. Keeps Gettin' Better, Christina Aguilera
10. Paper Trail, T.I.

SARAH SILVERMAN AND JIMMY KIMMEL STILL ARE TALKING ABOUT STATUS!

Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel like to keep us guessing. The former couple, who announced in July that they were calling it quits after five years together, showed up arm-in-arm to last night's GQ Men of the Year party at L.A.'s Chateau Marmont hotel.

They smiled and posed together for photographers on the red carpet but declined joint interviews. Once inside the star-studded bash, they held hands while talking to GQ editor-in-chief Jim Nelson.

Later on, Silverman was spied planting a sweet peck on Kimmel's lips. They also chatted with Mad Men star Jon Hamm, who is one of the magazine's four cover stars (the other three are Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Phelps and President-Elect Barack Obama.)

Shortly before leaving, Kimmel and Silverman once again had their arms around each other while chatting with Lost star Matthew Fox.

Kimmel's rep declined to comment about his client's relationship with Silverman.

HEATHER MILLS GOES AFTER FOUR BRITISH TABLOIDS, AND FILES COMPLAINTS!

Heather Mills' latest charity project: herself. Paul McCartney's ex-wife, who, deservedly or not, has indisputably been vilified by the British press, is attempting to give as good as she's gotten. The former model has filed complaints against four U.K. newspapers that she feels have given her a particularly raw deal.

The British media watchdog group the Press Complaints Commission, to which Mills reported the perceived injustices, did not disclose the nature of the complaints, but confirmed they touched on "various issues including privacy and accuracy."

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! "Twilight" world premiere Monday night in L.A. draws thousands!

Outside the Twilight world premiere in Los Angeles Monday night, thousands of fans were on every corner in the middle of Westwood Village—and they were loud.

Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series of books, drew screams as she signs autographs and takes pictures as she walks into the theater. Twilight must be big if teens are screaming at the top of their lungs for a writer.

Stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx and the band Paramore, who have a song on the soundtrack, were all on the red carpet too!

BROOKE BURKE SUFFERS A FEW MISSTEPS ON "DANCING WITH THE STARS"!

Frontrunner Brooke Burke scored lower than Cody Linley on Monday night's "Dancing With the Stars". Since Brooke hit rock bottom (literally—did you see Derek accidentally slam her into the floor?), does this mean Lance Bass or Warren Sapp will rise up to snag the top spot? And who will be going home?

Here are the Vegas expert odds from America's Line oddsmaker Benjamin Eckstein)

Cody Linley: 2-1
Warren Sapp: 10-1
Lance Bass: 50-1
Brooke Burke: 100-1

Eckstein Says: "You knew right away that this would be an unusual night when the judges trashed golden girl Brooke Burke in her opening number. The leader and clear favorite on our Vegas odds chart got her lowest score of the season. However, B.B. redeemed herself in the second number and will certainly make the finals. So will Lance Bass, who had the highest scores of the night, and Warren Sapp, who we will now rename 'Gourd of the Dance.' With an apology to all the tweens, heatthrob Cody Linley is gonna have to get his mouse ears out of storage, 'cause he's outta here!"

MINDY McCREADY ADMITS SHE'S LIVED RECKLESSLY AND MADE MISTAKES!

Mindy McCready admits that she has "lived life recklessly" and made a lot of mistakes, not the least of which was entering into an affair with a married man when she was a teenager.

But what happened next depends on whose story you believe—McCready's or McCready's.

Back in New York after a trip to SoCal to talk possible reality-show projects, the troubled country songbird resumed spilling her side of the Roger Clemens story—somewhat contradictorily—to various media outlets.

In an interview with Inside Edition, McCready says her alleged affair with the beleaguered baseball star ended because she wanted him to leave his wife, Debbie. But the "Guys Do It All the Time" singer also told the New York Daily News she "never wanted to marry" Clemens.

"He should have done right by his family—if a person is unhappy in their marriage and spending all their personal time with someone else, you need to do right by your marriage," she told the newspaper. "He should have just told Debbie and been honest with her. If he didn't want to be with her and wanted to be with me, he should have told her."

Meanwhile, according to Inside Edition: "I wanted him to, after all that time, do the right thing by me. And, Roger is loyal and dedicated to his family...and so I ended it."

Clemens has denied that anything sexual happened with McCready at any time and, in responding to her claims, has only issued a statement acknowledging that he has "made mistakes in [his] personal life for which [he is] sorry."

But while McCready offered up conflicting accounts of how their relationship ended, her story remains the same on one account: She's sorry for any pain she caused Debbie Clemens.

"I have nothing but remorse and nothing but sympathy for what she's had to go through with this situation, and she has my utmost apology," she told Inside Edition. And to the Daily News: "I would apologize to her and say I was young. I now know better."

MICHAEL JACKSON HOPING DOCTOR'S NOTE CAN GET HIM OUT OF LAWSUIT!

Michael Jackson is hoping a doctor's note can get him out of his latest lawsuit.

An attorney for the pop star, currently embroiled in a $7 million breach-of-contract trial in London after a Bahrain sheik accused him of failing to make good on the terms of an exclusive recording contract, told the court today Jackson would likely be unable to make it across the pond to offer testimony due to an undisclosed illness.

"On a best-case prognosis, it would be unwise for him to travel, given what he's got now," attorney Robert Englehart said in London's High Court. He refused to elaborate further "for the obvious reasons," but said the singer was waiting on test results.

While Englehart offered that Jackson instead testify via video link from the U.S., attorneys for Sheik Abdulla Bin Hamad Isa Al-Khalifa had another suggestion: Get the star "bandaged up" and get him on a plane.

NICOLE KIDMAN PLANNING EARLY RETIREMENT FROM FILM TO HAVE KIDS?

Nicole Kidman may be following in the footsteps of Joaquin Phoenix. During a Sydney press conference today to promote the Down Under premiere of Australia, the Oscar winner hinted she may soon be forsaking the big screen for another round of diaper duty, or other more personal endeavors.

"In terms of my future as an actor and stuff, I don't know," the 41-year-old mother of three said. "I am in a place in my life where...I've had some great opportunities, and I may just choose to have some more children."

COURTNEY LOVE BLOGS ON HER WEBSITE THAT SHE'S NOT SUICIDAL!

Courtney Love seems nothing but energetic, but the former Hole frontwoman retook to her blog Monday to refute reports that she is suicidal.

"no i am not suicidal, occasionally very occasioanly like all of us i get depressed, and that was over a year ago and i had a mini little depression attack well big one, and the Lanvin show made me happier, i dont know quite why it happened but i find that mediciation is not the answer to this," she wrote, going on to tout yoga, a good diet and Kombucha tea as effective means to ward off the blues.

Referring to Perez Hilton's interpretation of the many, many blog entries she posted over the weekend, Love continued:

"Perez its great you got to spend the week with midge i mean madge [Madonna] but i have this strange feeling your all of the sudden feeling a pull to insult me to please her, thats ridiculous, [in my humble opinion], in any case if shes talking or even vibing nasty comments about me, thats not very 'letting in of the light' etc,of her…"

Love also wrote that she's through with blogging because of the effect all the negativity has on her 16-year-old daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.

"PLEASE leave my kid out of it, when i make a technical booboo or get alittle whacky when shes at a movie, [it's] my problem…Basically I'm off blogging because you've upset my kid and embarrassed her and so have I. so [I've] apoligised to her i hope you will too."

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Barack Obama lifts "60 Minutes" to #1!

Barack Obama's television approval ratings are through the roof. Sunday night's "60 Minutes", featuring a sit-down with the president-elect and wife Michelle Obama, scored a commanding 24.5 million viewers, Nielsen estimates said.

CBS said the audience was the newsmagazine's biggest since at least the late 20th century—or January 1999. The show dominated every major demographic group, even kids 12-17.

While Obama repeatedly has proved he can pack a house on his own, he surely owes the NFL for at least some of last night's crowd. In many markets, the Obama 60 Minutes aired right after the conclusion of CBS' Sunday football coverage.

Elsewhere, ABC's Desperate Housewives (16.6 million) was the night's most watched non-Obama, nonfootball show.

JAMES BOND BIGGER THAN EVER WITH "QUANTUM OF SOLACE" THIS WEEKEND!

Daniel Craig and James Bond with "Quantum of Solace", the latest all-business Bond, put up a record debut for a 007 movie: $70.4 million. Optimistic projections for Quantum, the 22nd Bond adventure, had the movie opening at $50-60 million. By hitting $70 million, the movie blew away the franchise's previous best opener—2002's Die Another Day, the final Pierce Brosnan Bond—and showed Jason Bourne who's box office king of the spy genre, at least this weekend. (The biggest Bourne opener, 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum, debuted with $69.3 million.)

Quantum got out of the gate with a $27 million Friday that bested the opening days of summer hits such as Sex and the City and WALL-E. The haul helped bring the movie's worldwide gross to about $322 million by the end of the weekend.

1. Quantum of Solace, $70.4 milliion
2. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, $36.1 million
3. Role Models, $11.7 million
4. High School Musical 3: Senior Year, $5.9 million
5. Changeling, $4.2 million
6. Zack and Miri Make a Porno, $3.2 million
7. Soul Men, $2.43 million
8. The Secret Life of Bees, $2.4 million
9. Saw V, $1.8 million
10. The Haunting of Molly Hartley, $1.6 million

PAULA ABDUL'S TRAGIC FAN'S AUTOPSY CONDUCTED, NO VERDICT YET!

Extreme Paula Abdul fan Paula Goodspeed’s autopsy has been conducted, but the official verdict on her cause of death is going wait. "We are doing toxicology," Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles coroner’s office stated. “It will take six to eight weeks.”

Although Goodspeed’s brother said Thursday that the body of the former American Idol auditioner would be released to the family Saturday and flown home to Maine for burial, MacWillie says the remains are still with the coroner. “The body is ready to be released," said MacWillie, "but the legal next of kin still has to make arrangements with a mortuary."

Goodspeed’s body was found in her car near Abdul’s home last Tuesday night. Police suspect it was a suicide. Sources have said that Goodspeed had, just months ago, tried to commit suicide by overdosing on pills, also in a car parked on Abdul's street.

SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALRIGHT FOR FIGHTIN' FOR "BACHELOR" BABE IN TEXAS!

Mary Delgado, the winner of ABC's "The Bachelor" was busted late Saturday after allegedly getting into a drunken row at a nightspot in Del Rio, Texas, and then tussling with cops.

Mark Scott, warden for Del Rio's Val Verde Correctional Facility, said that Delgado refused to leave Lorina's Cantina after being asked by managers. The police were called, and she was initially arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

She earned an extra charge of resisting arrest, Scott says, after she allegedly started screaming at officers in the squad car and kicked the radio. With the help of her Bachelor rose-bestowing partner, Byron Velvick, Delgado posted bail and was released a few hours later.

HEATHER LOCKLEAR NOW CHARGED WITH DRIVING UNDER INFLUENCE OF DRUGS!

Looks like the "concerned citizen" who ratted out Heather Locklear for driving erratically last September may have been justified.

The Santa Barbara District Attorney's Office has confirmed that, after a lengthy investigation, the former Melrose Place star has been formally charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs stemming from her Sept. 27 roadside arrest.

"It was prescription medications only...For privacy reasons I cannot say which prescriptions they were," Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter tells E! News, adding that there were "no alcohol or illegal narcotics of any kind" in Locklear's system at the time of her bust.

"DANCING WITH THE STARS" CURSE EXTENDS TO EX-CONTESTANTS NOW!

he curse of Dancing With the Stars is apparently so powerful, it even extends to those no longer in the cast. Cloris Leachman's rep confirms that the 82-year-old actress sought medical attention last Thursday, but that she was not, despite reports to the contrary, diagnosed with pneumonia.

"She had a slight cough and wasn't feeling totally herself, so she went and sought medical attention from her doctor," the publicist said, adding that the not-so-hot-stepper was well enough to attend a private family event over the weekend.

"She is currently at her home, and is expected to tape something for Dancing With the Stars later this week."

As for Leachman's impressive roster of future projects, including reprising her original role in Broadway's Young Frankenstein, a part in Quentin Tarantino's war epic, Inglourious Basterds, and serving as the grand marshal for the 2009 Tournament of Roses festivities, Leachman will press on as planned. Says Leachmen's rep, "This will have absolutely no effect on any of Cloris' upcoming projects."

NEW VICTORIA'S SECRET FASHION SHOW HITS MIAMI THIS PAST WEEKEND!

LONDON'S "DAILY MAIL" APOLOGIZES TO DAVID DUCHOVNY FOR NEWS STORY!

David Duchovny's lawyer answered the phone and it was London calling—with an apology.

Britain's Daily Mail on Monday printed a retraction and apologized for an Oct. 19 article which claimed the Californication star had carried on an adulterous relationship with a tennis instructor, a woman who duly denied being any more than friends with the actor.

"On October 19, an article about actor David Duchovny may have suggested he had an amorous relationship with a tennis coach, Edith Pakay," read the statement in today's print and online editions.

"We now accept this is inaccurate and Ms. Pakay and Mr. Duchovny are only friends who used to play tennis occasionally. Their relationship went no further and was not a factor in Mr and Mrs Duchovny's separation. We apologize to Ms. Pakay, Mr. Duchovny and to Mr. Duchovny's family."

ALL EYES ON THE PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA, BUT WHAT ABOUT JOHANSSON?

Remember when Scarlett Johansson played coy with the Obama rumors and then got shot down over their nonexistent email relationship? Seems like just yesterday she was calling the media sexist over it.

Scarlett's still upset over the whole thing. She told Allure magazine about the Obama fallout and about her beef with LiLo. "Either you're a bull dog or you're some slutty airhead," Johansson complained. "Maybe some people would say it’s an image that I put out. That's a crock of s--t. I’m sorry."

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Oprah: Montecito fire, Jennifer Aniston and Beyonce!

Oprah Winfrey may be in Chicago taping her show, but her thoughts are thousands of miles away, in Southern California.

The talk-show queen is among a handful of celebrities, including Rob Lowe, Michael Douglas, Ellen DeGeneres, Kevin Costner and Jeff Bridges, whose homes are threatened by a fast-growing wildfire that broke out in exclusive Montecito, California, in the hills above Santa Barbara.

During today's episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show aired live in Chicago, Winfrey addressed the conflagration: "The first thing I wanted to talk about is the raging fire burning right now in my neighborhood of Montecito, Calif.

"All our prayers are with all the folks and neighbors in Santa Barbara. Hope you're well today. And those of you who lost your homes, our hearts go out to you." Winfrey's rep said that "at this point, Oprah Winfrey’s property has not been affected by the fire."

Lowe's publicist, meanwhile, said that "so far his home and his family are safe." The actor still evacuated his family from the area.

Both Lowe's and Winfrey's homes are less than a mile from several homes devastated in the blaze, and Winfrey's estate is within several hundred yards of the mandatory evacuation zone.

AND YESTERDAY ON OPRAH, SPECIAL GUESTS JENNIFER ANISTON & BEYONCE!

JENNIFER ANISTON SAYS "WHAT ANGELINA DID WAS VERY UNCOOL" ON OPRAH!

On the heels of a new Vogue article where Jennifer Aniston says "what Angelina [Jolie] did was very uncool", the actress sat down with Oprah Winfrey emphasizing there's no hard feelings between her and ex-Brad Pitt.

"He [the Vogue journalist] asked me a question and I, basically, just answered it as honestly as I could," Aniston said in a taped interview Thursday. "I don't go there. It's a 100 years old."

Aniston was appreciative to have such a fan following interested in her life and said she's been "unbelievably lucky with love."

Reports are that Brad Pitt complained to Aniston about publicly reopening old wounds from breakup and romance with Jolie. "[Brad has] done some amazing things in the last couple years," Aniston said.

The former Friends actress also denied rumors that she's pregnant.

JENNIFER ANISTON DOESN'T KICK UP THE RATINGS FOR "30 ROCK" THURSDAY!

Jennifer Aniston didn't lift the ratings on Thursday night's episode of "30 Rock", and, as an added bonus for fans of vintage NBC Thursdays, a Night Court cast reunion, was watched by a season-low 7.5 million, Nielsen estimates report.

The show's previous low (8.1 million) came a week ago, when no less than Oprah Winfrey appeared. Overall, 30 Rock, bolstered more by Tina Fey's rising star than any one guest star, is bigger than ever, averaging 8.1 million through the first three weeks of its season.

Elsewhere last night, the return of Anthony Edwards to ER had an anti-Aniston effect: boosting the NBC show by 1.2 million viewers over last week, to 9.8 million overall. CBS' CSI (18.9 million) was Thursday's most watched show.

JENNIFER ANISTON TELLS OPRAH SHE AND JOHN MAYER ARE ON AGAIN!

Between Jennifer Aniston telling Oprah she's been "lucky in love" and John Mayer blogging away about how he's so not moody, it only seems fitting that the self-proclaimed upbeat duo was spotted together Thursday night as they dined at La Esquina in Manhattan.

Upon leaving the restaurant through separate doors, the couple opted for a little clubbing and headed over to New York City's trendy GoldBar, where they reportedly partied through the wee hours of the morning.

Looks like these formerly low-key lovebirds are no longer avoiding the limelight.

KANYE WEST ARRESTED AGAIN FOR ASSAULTING PAPARAZZI IN ENGLAND!

Kanye West's love may not be the only thing that needs to be put on lockdown—his fists might also want to consider it. The rapper was arrested on suspicion of assault in Newcastle, England, early this morning, after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with a paparazzo.

Northumbria Police have confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested and released without charge and that no further action will be taken. West was not identified by name—per U.K. police policy, arrestees aren't publicly named unless formally charged.

This makes the second time this year West managed to escape charges for an alleged shutterbug smackdown, having been involved in a similar melee at Los Angeles International Airport in September.

HELIO CASTRONEVES TAX-EVASION TRIAL STILL ON TRACK FOR MARCH START!

The judge in Hélio Castroneves' federal tax-evasion trial isn't ready to hit the brakes just yet. U.S. District Judge Donald A. Graham this morning denied a motion filed by the race car turned Dancing With the Stars champ's lawyers seeking to push back the trial's start date from March 2 until November of next year.

"This Court attempted to satisfy all attorneys in the case by having them consult their work calendars, personal calendars, etc," the decision reads. "Since that date was agreed upon by all counsel, it will not be altered."

The embattled IndyCar driver sought the continuance in order to maintain a full racing schedule over the next year.

Castroneves argued in documents filed in Miami federal court that it would be difficult for his team, Penske Racing Inc., to replace him and would prove "catastrophic" for the driver himself, effectively robbing Castroneves of a chance to compete in the 2009 IndyCar series.

The Brazilian speed demon has pleaded not guilty to hiding more than $5.5 million in earnings from Uncle Sam between 1999 and 2004. He is currently free on $10 million bail.

JENNIFER HUDSON THANKS HER FANS ON THE INTERNET FOR THEIR SUPPORT!

For the first time since the tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew last month, Jennifer Hudson has taken to the Internet to issue a personal note of gratitude to well-wishers.

"I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," Hudson writes in a posting titled "Thank You All" on her MySpace blog last night.

"My sister and I take great comfort and strength from your love and concern."

The still-mourning Oscar winner signed the post "jhud."

The investigation into the killings is ongoing. While no arrests have yet been made, Hudson's estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, has been named a person of interest in the case and was recently ordered to remain behind bars until Dec. 3 on an unrelated probation violation.

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Kenny Chesney CMA Entertainer Award!

Kenny Chesney, was named the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year again for the fourth time last night in Nashville! "As much as tonight is about awards, I really believe that being able to stand up here is more about great songs, it's more about the fans," said the touring dynamo and now four-time Entertainer of the Year.

"It's more about being onstage every night in front of a lot of people that really make it happen for me and the band out here...I'm really humbled tonight and I really appreciate it." Chesney accepted the honor from Shania Twain, who told a pleasantly surprised audience, "It's good to see you, too. I hope to be seeing a lot more of you."

Former promising newcomer Carrie Underwood, now a veteran of the country scene, shared hosting duties with Brad Paisley, who opened last night's ceremony by teaming with Keith Urban on their new single, "Start a Band."

"To be here together, actually hosting this show, has got to be the honor of a lifetime," Paisley told the crowd. "Some of the all-time greats...have hosted this show, so I've got some massive—I mean, huge—boots to fill," he continued and, turning to his cohost, added, "And also I believe Dolly hosted this show, so...good luck."

"That's way too much for me to live up to," Underwood quipped. However, she played the part of the diva quite well, changing no less than seven times Wednesday (highlights: a one-shouldered emerald-green cocktail dress, a pink Grecian-cut gown and the massive bauble she wore while performing "Just a Dream").

In addition to that microphone, she and Paisley also shared second consecutive respective wins for Female and Male Vocalist of the Year.

"Mama, it's real hard to sing when you're in the second row crying," the platinum-selling 25-year-old said. "Thank you, country music. I came here through an unconventional way, and you guys didn't have to accept me at all. But everybody in town, everybody in Nashville, everybody in the country-music community has been so great."

And while she has moved past thanking American Idol, Underwood wasn't too big for her britches to thank Idol mastermind Simon Fuller.

Starting their own tradition, meanwhile, were Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush of Sugarland, who collected their second consecutive CMA award for Vocal Duo of the Year. Nettles also proved that she could go it alone, winning Song of the Year for her solo effort "Stay."

No strangers to a repeat trip to the podium, either, was Rascal Flatts, who continued to prove that life is both a highway and a swell place to sell millions of countrified pop records by notching their sixth straight win for Vocal Group of the Year.

Nashville fixture George Strait picked up his 20th and 21st CMAs tonight, winning both Song and Album of the Year with "I Saw God Today" and the disc from whence it came, Troubador.

The performance-riddled evening was made all the more genre-spanning by the second straight appearance of the Eagles, who cracked the country charts last year with Long Road Out of Eden and triumphantly followed up last year's headline-making awards-show debut with a live rendition of "Busy Being Fabulous."

Here's the complete list of winners from the 42nd Annual Country Music Association Awards:

• Entertainer of the Year: Kenny Chesney
• Female Vocalist: Carrie Underwood
• Male Vocalist: Brad Paisley

FIRST FAMILY NOW THE NEW FASHION IMAGE FOR AMERICA'S MAGAZINES!

The magazine's that usually feature Jennifer Aniston's man troubles decided to switch things up with some pictures of the soon-to-be first family.

Lately, people have become especially fascinated with Michelle Obama's style picks. Whether she asked for it or not, her fashion choices will be highly scrutinized throughout Barack's presidency. And so far experts say, she's been doing very well, with her consistently chic campaign sheaths from up-and-coming designers like Thakoon, plus the occasional J. Crew or H&M thrown in. It's this high-low mix, good taste and strong character that will inevitably turn her into a full-fledged fashion icon during the next presidential term.

PAULA ABDUL'S FAN NOT A STALKER, FAMILY SAYS AFTER APPARENT SUICIDE!

The family of Paula Goodspeed is coming to her defense following her apparent suicide outside Paula Abdul's home earlier this week. "She was not a stalker," Charles McIntyre, Goodspeed's only brother, said Thursday.

McIntyre, who lives with his family in Oakland, Maine, said his sister moved to California five years ago with only one dream: to be a star. "She went down there to have a career, and when she went down in front of those American Idol judges, it was over," said McIntyre. "She was just like anyone else, trying to make it big as an actor or singer."

McIntyre said their mother and Goodspeed's boyfriend are in L.A. waiting for the body to be released from the coroner's on Saturday. The funeral will take place in Maine.

Sources say the 30-year-old Goodspeed had been obsessed with Abdul for the past 17 years. Her fixation led her to twice auditioning to appear on American Idol, including her now-infamous, Simon Cowell-maligned 2005 audition in Austin.

Goodspeed's death Tuesday night, which police suspect was a suicide, was not her first house call to Abdul's Sherman Oaks abode.

Sources reported that two or three months ago, Goodspeed tried to commit suicide by overdosing on pills outside the residence.

MARJORIE IS THE LATEST ELIMINATION ON AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL!

Shy sweetheart Marjorie has exited America's Next Top Model. Marjorie was always the most neurotic about her reality-show stardom of any of this cycle's contestants, so it makes sense that by the end, she was ready to move on. She said, "I was a little worn out in the competition...Actually, the best way I can describe it, you know how when you're young, you've never gotten beaten up, and you fantasize about the idea of getting your nose broken, maybe? I don't know, it's the idea of never having gone through it and being scared of that ever happening, and once it's happened, you're not scared of it anymore." I'm not sure if that's thoughtfully honest or just disturbing.

Marjorie says the storylines about her drunkenness and overexposure were blown totally out of proportion, and actually, "I don't think Analeigh would ever admit this to anyone, but I think she just got a little overprotective. I really was not that drunk; it was mostly editing. I mean I did consume alcohol, but it was really a small amount over a couple of days." As for the much discussed shots of her in the tub, Marjorie said, "There's no real reason not to take a bath together. We see each other naked all the time, having to do photo shoots, changing every morning in front of each other—there are no doors. It was kind of very natural. I had no idea McKey, Samantha and Sheena felt that way."

Who Will Win? According to Marjorie, Analeigh is the frontrunner, followed by McKey and then Sam. M said, "I'm definitely rooting for Analeigh. I definitely think she has a great chance of winning—she's a great runway model. And I definitely think McKey might win, just because she's just got such a versatile look, and she books every client she goes to. Sam, I think she's a great model. I'm not sure she'll take the win, but it's definitely possible. My prediction for the final two is Analeigh and McKey."

THE FUR WAS FLYING AT THE OLSEN TWINS' L.A. BOOK SIGNING LAST NIGHT!

On hand to promote and sign copies of their new photo-driven coffee-table tome Influence, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were met not only by a flock of their style-conscious fans but by a mob of PETA protesters.

"The Olsen twins support an industry that forces animals to live in tiny wire cages their entire lives and electrocutes and kills them for vanity," PETA rep Ashley Byrne told E! News.

The animal-rights activists' beef, as it were, is not only due to the Olsens' frequent donning of fur and animal skins, but their use of both materials in their higher-end clothing line, the Row.

THE O'NEALS DRUG CHARGES TRIAL POSTPONED UNTIL AFTER THE NEW YEAR!

The arraignment of Ryan O'Neal, 67, and son Redmond, 23, on drug charges was postponed from today until after the new year.

"It was continued until Jan. 9," Malibu Deputy District Attorney James Garrison told E! News, adding that the postponement was granted at the request of the O'Neals.

Attorneys asked for the additional time to more closely examine new evidence brought forth by the prosecution. It's unclear what the new evidence is.

"DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES" PRODUCER MARC SAYS PALIN RUMOR NOT TRUE!

Sarah Palin guesting on Desperate Housewives? According to the New York Post today, Marc Cherry wants to put the former veep nominee in the season finale.

Desperate Housewives executive producer Sabrina Wind says: "I just wanted to tell you from Marc himself that there is no validity to this odd claim. There is no way Sarah Palin will be coming on Desperate Housewives."

Meanwhile, Desperate Housewives is poised to air its much-talked-about inferno episode this Sunday at 9 p.m. on ABC. Not everyone makes it out of the fire alive, according to several sources!

NBC AXES "MY OWN WORST ENEMY" AND "LIPSTICK JUNGLE" OFF SCHEDULE!

NBC gave the ax to My Own Worst Enemy (starring Christian Slater) and Lipstick Jungle (starring Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price) yesterday.

No further episodes had been ordered for either series. Despite a promising premise, Enemy never got off the ground in the Nielsens. Lipstick too, struggled to find a wide audience, despite a small but devoted fanbase and having received a second chance for a sophomore season. (Lipstick's first season was cut short by the writers strike.)

FOX FINALLY PULLS THE PLUG ON THE LOW-RATED "MAD TV" SATURDAY NIGHTS!

After 14 seasons in the ratings cellar, Fox on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the late-night sketch-comedy show that never managed to trump NBC's Saturday Night Live.

"This was a very difficult decision," said Fox programming boss Kevin Reilly, "and we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone at MADtv for making us laugh for over 300 irreverent episodes."

MADtv debuted in 1995 in the 11 p.m. Saturday-night slot. Along the way it earned four Emmys (in 41 nominations) and served as a launchpad for Orlando Jones, Debra Wilson, Artie Lange and Michael McDonald.

Production ends in December, and Fox will air the finale in May.

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Maurice Green eliminated on DWTS!

"So many tears! Everyone was crying when he left." This is how Lance Bass describes the scene backstage tonight at Dancing With the Stars, as the cast said goodbye to running man and "everybody's buddy," Maurice Green.

OK, so tears may have been expected, but here's something you may or may not have picked up on that was rather shocking: When Maurice was eliminated during tonight's episode, a portion of the audience actually cheered. Loudly. (The cheers were muffled somewhat in the telecast.)

It was the teenybopper constituency who were very nervous when Cody was named in the bottom two and then broke out in raucous shriek when Maurice's name was called.

"That did feel odd," Cody told us backstage about the cheering. "I was so nervous, so when they said ‘You're safe, Cody, slash your buddy Maurice is going home,' it was a very odd feeling...This was a very traumatic night for me!"

Still, the Green machine was in high spirits backstage after the show, telling us, "It was a blessing for me to make it each week and that I stayed on the show. I had a wonderful time...and I wouldn't take anything back."

Later Maurice showed up on the Jimmy Kimmel show with partner Cheryl Burke!

Meanwhile, Cody says he's looking forward to his original partner Julianne returning next week: "There was a piece of me missing, and she's back." And brother Derek tells us, "She feels great, and you know what? She's better than ever, really, because she hasn't had a break in such a long time."

So now it's time for the finals, and it would seem Cody and Lance will land in next week's bottom two. However, Lance insists we shouldn't count him out yet. "We've been the underdogs of the season, we've somehow stayed here thanks to America out there voting. We know where we stand with the judges, so at least we know that people are voting for us, which is nice!"

SENATOR JOHN McCAIN MAKES FIRST POST ELECTION APPEARANCE ON LENO!

PART 2 OF THE McCAIN INTERVIEW ON JAY LENO LAST NIGHT!

PART 3 OF SENATOR JOHN McCAIN'S APPEARANCE ON LENO'S "TONIGHT" SHOW!

KEVIN FEDERLINE'S ATTORNEY SATISFIED WITH BRITNEY'S CARE OF JAYDEN!

Britney Spears won't face any"negligent" charges about son Jayden's trip to the hospital.

Longtime Kevin Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said that, as far as he knows, 2-year-old Jayden James' emergency trip to the hospital was most likely the result of a food allergy—and Federline, who was immediately notified of the incident, has no plans "as of now" to seek an explanation from his ex in court.

"I think that whatever it is, a food allergy or some other case, we don't know yet," Kaplan said Tuesday. "We're pleased that someone was aware enough to see that he was having some sort of reaction and do what was necessary to make sure there were no chances taken and got Jayden to the appropriate facility and got the appropriate evaluation to be timely."

PAULA ABDUL OBSESSED FAN FOUND DEAD OUTSIDE "IDOL" JUDGE'S HOME!

A woman described as being obsessed with Paula Abdul has been found dead after apparently killing herself in a car parked outside the American Idol judge's hillside home, police confirm.

"I am deeply shocked and saddened by what transpired yesterday," Abdul said. "My heart and prayers go out to her family."

Los Angeles police officers found the body around 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of Beverly Ridge Drive in Sherman Oaks. The cause of death appears to be a suicide, and the body has been transported to the county coroner for autopsy.

Abdul's camp said that she is aware of the incident and plans to release a statement, after finishing up some Idol taping.

Authorities have not released the name of the 30-year-old woman, but say she seemed to be fixated on the "Forever Your Girl" singer. "She has a history of mental illness," Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff's Dept. told the media.

"AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL"...WHO ARE THE FAVORITES?

Analeigh and McKey seem to be the two top choices to win!

McKey knocked the socks off all the designers at her "go-sees" in Amsterdam last week, booking every single one of her potential jobs? They may be able to edit the judges' praise and adoration, but they couldn't edit out that, and being 100 percent bankable to designers is key.

McKey has flown so far under the radar (very little footage of her behind the scenes has been shown compared to the other girls), and yet the occasional comments we do hear about her include how "stunning" and "striking" her face is—not to mention she's just about as tall and modelesque as they come. And she even rocks impressive designer duds at panel!

BetOnline.com has just released the following odds on ANTM, placing Analeigh as the front-runner with McKey a close second:

* Analeigh (2-to-1)
* McKey (9-to-4)
* Marjorie (7-to-2)
* Samantha (6-to-1)

JOE JONAS SWIFTLY MOVES ON AFTER BREAKING UP WITH COUNTRY STAR TAYLOR!

• It only took Joe Jonas 27 seconds to break it off with Taylor Swift and another few seconds to hook it up with the star of JoBro band's "Lovebug" music video, Camilla Belle. He likes her because she's "a really good girl" and kinda looks like a female version of himself.

ANGELINA JOLIE: THE KIDS ARE HER LIFE, AND MAYBE MORE TO COME!

Given the fact that Angelina Jolie is more often than not spotted with at least a few of her and Brad Pitt's six children in tow, it certainly comes as no surprise where her priorties lie.

"The center of my life is my kids," the Oscar winner tells the Los Angeles Times. But she's quick to point out that it's not always easy having such a big brood. "I woke up at 3 in the morning with four kids with jet lag and two babies," she says, recalling a recent trip to Hollywood. "I put myself together for a few hours and go out. And then I go home. This is my job."

Not that she's complaining, mind you. "I don't dislike it here," insists the globe-trotter, referring to Tinseltown. "I just really do love to travel. I love other cultures. And I love raising my kids in the world. I'm so fortunate that I get to do that."

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Britney's son Jayden, out of hospital!

The following statement was posted on Britney Spears' official website:

"A source close to the Spears family has told us that Britney and family have left the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and Jayden is fine."

The pop star was spotted carrying son Jayden James out of Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and into a waiting SUV Monday at about 6 p.m., a little more than 24 hours after the 2-year-old was taken to the emergency room after suffering a "bad reaction" to something he ingested.

A police officer and security escort guarded Spears, who, according to one eyewitness, "looked totally exhausted."

The 26-year-old mother of two took her youngest son directly back to her family's "Serenity" compound in nearby Kentwood, La. Britney, dad Jamie Spears, Jayden and 3-year-old Sean Preston just arrived in town on Friday.

GEORGE CARLIN POSTHUMOUSLY AWARDED MARK TWAIN HUMOR PRIZE!

George Carlin may not have been around to accept the award in bodily form, but some of the big names who were inspired by his sharp brand of funny made sure he was there in spirit.

Jon Stewart (pictured above), Bill Maher, Denis Leary, Garry Shandling, Joan Rivers, Lily Tomlin and Margaret Cho were among the laughmakers who showed up Monday to honor the pioneering comic at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., where the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor was awarded posthumously for the first time.

Carlin died of heart failure June 22, barely a week after learning he was the recipient of this year's prize, which in the past has gone to such luminaries as Steve Martin and Billy Crystal.

KEITH OLBERMANN SIGNS UP WITH MSNBC FOR FOUR MORE YEARS!

Keith Olbermann, who saw his Countdown ratings rise along with his voice as he delivered Edward R. Murrow-aspiring sermons on the Bush White House, re-upped today with MSNBC.

The deal keeps Olbermann, 49, put at MNSBC (and on NBC's Sunday Night Football pregame show) for four more years—four more years during which Barack Obama, not Bush, will be president.

Olbermann, however, need not worry about a lack of targets.

His favorite villain, Bill O'Reilly, re-upped for four more years with Fox News last month.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS' FATHER AGREES TO FACE TAX EVASION CHARGES!

Michelle Williams' father has finally given up Down Under. After a two-and-a-half-year legal battle, Larry Williams, the estranged father of the Brokeback Mountain star, has finally consented to be extradited to the U.S., where he is set to face long-pending federal tax-evasion charges.

The elder Williams, a stock trader, has long been sought by Uncle Sam for allegedly failing to pay roughly $1.5 million in taxes between 1999 and 2001 on income from book royalties and international speaking tours.

"I will fight this and win," Williams, 65, told Australia's Daily Telegraph before being taken into custody. "I will be back, I have a lot of friends here in Australia."

VANESSA HUDGENS HAS A COURT DATE OVER BROKEN DEAL LAWSUIT!

A judge has set a May 11, 2009, trial date in the lawsuit accusing the Vanessa Hudgens, the High School Musical star and her father of backing out of a deal with a guy named Johnny Vieira and his Johnny on the Spot Productions.

In court yesterday, the Hudgens family's attorney told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Malcolm Mackey that they were not interested in mediation and would rather take this beef to trial.

The defendants did leave the door open for future mediation if so desired.

Per the suit, Vanessa and dad Greg broke a contract she signed as a minor, and they still owe Vieira about $70,000 in court-ordered compensation. The producer wants a thorough audit of Hudgens' finances and $5 million in damages

LINDSAY LOHAN TALKS ABOUT HER SEXUALITY PREFERENCE IN HARPER'S!

Lindsay Lohan is on the cover of December's Harper's Bazaar looking hot and coherent, without a pair of leggings in sight.

It gets even better inside. The article aims to get to the bottom of LiLo's sexuality. When asked if she'd classify herself as a lesbian, Linds flat-out says no. So does that make her bisexual then? "Maybe. Yeah."

While Linds doesn't name check Samantha Ronson specifically, she does say, "I think it's pretty obvious who I'm seeing...She's a wonderful person and I love her very much."

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! "People's Choice Awards" announces nominees!

The People's Choice Awards boasts the biggest—and most varied—names in showbiz.

Nominations for the 35th annual People's Choice Awards were announced by a fleet of small-screen stars this morning, including Joshua Jackson and Carrie Ann Inaba, and, unsurprisingly, some of the past year's heaviest heavyweights from TV, movies and music were among those scoring nods.

Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood, Hugh Laurie, Justin Timberlake, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Steve Carell, Rihanna, Coldplay, Family Guy, Sex and the City, American Idol and even David Letterman are among the disparate nominees for the January 7 show, this year set to be hosted by Queen Latifah.

Doing their best to make this year's ceremony even more inclusive than usual, several new categories will be included in this year's congratulatory roundup: Favorite Superhero, Favorite TV Drama Diva, Favorite Movie Cast and Favorite Scene-Stealing Guest Star.

Meanwhile, People magazine, coincidentally also celebrating its 35th year in existence, is teaming up with the People's Choice to present another special award, the first ever People's Choice Award for Favorite Star Under 35, a veritable dumping ground of names for young Hollywood.

BRITNEY SPEARS' SON JAYDEN HOSPITALIZED FOR BAD REACTION!

A rep for the Spears family has released the following statement:

"Jayden James Federline was admitted to the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center on Sunday, November 9th. Doctors concluded he had a reaction to something he ingested. He is expected to be discharged tomorrow."

Britney Spears made an unexpected trip to the hospital over the weekend, but this time it wasn't the pop star's health that was the issue. Instead, Spears' youngest son, Jayden, was rushed to the emergency room by the pop star sometime between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

"She looked very stressed," an eyewitness said. A short time later, Spears' sister, Jamie Lynn, arrived at the hospital after being driven by a friend. Spears herself drove the 2-year-old to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance. While there's no official word on the reason for Jayden's admittance, the tyke spent Sunday night at the facility under observation.

Britney was spotted leaving Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center—the same hospital, coincidentally, where Jamie Lynn gave birth this year—earlier this morning, but it was not clear whether Jayden had been discharged.

Britney's brother, Bryan, and her other son, Sean Preston, accompanied by a nanny, were also seen exiting the medical center today. Last night, the elder Spears was spotted bringing fast food into the hospital.

Britney, Jayden and Sean were expecting to spend a leisurely weekend with family in the pop star's hometown of Kentwood, La., the first time since her January meltdown that 26-year-old singer was allowed to take the boys out of California. The family only arrived on Friday.

A source close to the family commented that Kevin Federline has been made aware of his son's hospitalization and will fly out to the Mississippi facility should the boy not be discharged today.

HELIO CASTRONEVES JURY TRIAL SET FOR MARCH ON FED TAX CHARGES!

Hélio Castroneves, former Dancing With the Stars champ and two-time Indy 500 winner will be waltzing before a jury in federal court on March 2, after a judge in Miami today set the date for the Castroneves' trial on conspiracy and tax-dodging charges.

U.S. District Judge Donald Graham also ruled that Castroneves' sister, Katiucia Castroneves, 35, and Ohio-based attorney, Alan Miller, 71, will face trial on similar charges.

The trio, who pleaded not guilty last month, are accused of using a Panamanian shell corporation to hide more than $5.5 million in income between 1999 and 2004.

"MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA" KING OF THE BOX OFFICE BEASTS!

At the weekend box office, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa was the animated blockbuster Jerry Seinfeld's Bee Movie never quite became last year, while Role Models was the R-rated comedy hit Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno didn't quite qualify as last week.

The Madagascar sequel ruled with $63.5 million, per studio estimates compiled today by Exhibitor Relations. "Role Models" was a distant but unexpectedly big second with $19.3 million.

In short, it was a good weekend for animals, CGI and otherwise.

1. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, $63.5 million
2. Role Models, $19.3 million
3. High School Musical 3: Senior Year, $9.3 million

WILLIAM BALFOUR, "PERSON OF INTEREST" IN HUDSON SLAYINGS, STILL HELD!

William Balfour, the 27-year-old "person of interest" in the slayings of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew has been ordered to remain in prison while police continue to investigate the murders.

Balfour has been held at Illinois' Stateville Correctional Center since October 26 on charges of parole violation stemming from a 1999 conviction on attempted murder.

At a parole hearing this morning—which could potentially have seen Balfour walk free—the Illinois Prisoner Review Board ruled there was reason to believe he had violated his parole for transgressions unrelated to the Hudson killings, including appearing in places where drugs were sold and, according to his girlfriend, being in possession of a gun that matches the description of the Hudson murder weapon.

SARAH PALIN IS LOOKING AT SHOW-BIZ AS THE NEXT CAREER STEP?

Sarah Palin is mulling over her many post-election options from the media, according to the New York Post's Page Six column.

Talk-show possibilities, regular TV pundit slots and lucrative book deals are already generating buzz for the publicity-magnet politician who energized the conservative base and the liberal opposition. Check 'em out:

"There are several of our imprints who are eager to talk to Gov. Palin," Random House spokesman Stuart Applebaum tells Page Six. "She clearly has a constituency and we know books by conservatively centered politicos usually sell very, very well."

Of course, there are always haters. Linda Mann, president of Mann Media, which books celebrities and fashionistas for TV, noted, "Her buzz is incredible. She has car-wreck appeal. You're compelled to watch, hoping she'll say the dumbest things possible. I'd propose a show combining her love of fashion and lack of brainpower—'Project Dumbway.'"

SIENNA MILLER AND BALTHAZAR GETTY HAVE BROKEN IT OFF AS COUPLE!

Sienna Miller and Balthazar Getty have called it quits. The actress spilled the Splitsville news to Usmagazine.com at a London charity event:

"I'm single at the moment, and I'm completely happy with that. It's nice not to have a relationship that the press constantly want to scrutinize and discuss. I'm cool with being on my own."

But she was definitely hot with Getty, perhaps generating too much heat when a topless Miller was photographed smooching her guy on a boat in Italy while the actor was still married. Getty, a star of TV's Brothers and Sisters, separated from his wife a couple of months later. And the publicity glare hasn't done much for Miller, either, with her London home vandalized in August with the word "slut."

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Madonna, Britney and Justin rock Dodger Stadium!

Madonna Sticky & Sweet tour hit Dodger Stadium Thursday and Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake joined her onstage—but not at the same time.

Spears, clad in black pants, a white tuxedo-style shirt and black heels, shared the spotlight with Madonna on the third song of the night, "Human Nature"—which, incidentally came pretty late in the evening because the show started nearly three hours late.

The delay possibly had to do with Wednesday's lighting and technical difficulties, which halted construction on the Material Girl's set. "Half of my stage is missing...which is why we're in the dark," Madonna informed the crowd later on. "The absence of light makes it very hard to look into the audience eyes and that's what makes performing such a joy. So come close. And thank you for your understanding."

Meanwhile, Britney left the stage long before Timberlake appeared to duet with the belle of the ball on their Hard Candy tune "4 Minutes." Spears, surrounded by bodyguards, immediately took off following Timberlake's appearance.

Adding to the evening's A-list were audience members Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Carrie Underwood, Dennis Quaid, Hayden Panettiere, Fergie, Kate Moss and Amanda Bynes.

MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS FEATURE KATY PERRY RIDING A GIANT BANANA!

So Britney Spears couldn't make it to the MTV Europe Music Awards to pick up her two awards—she had a gig with Madonna and Justin Timberlake in L.A.—but the show went on anyway at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

Katy Perry hosted the event, as well as rode a giant banana. Why? Because she can, people.

Other oddities included pointy dresses, an onstage pillow fight and several trophies going to Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds to Mars.

"INSIDE THE ACTOR'S STUDIO" DAVE CHAPPELLE'S COMING BACK!

Dave Chappelle's is resufacing after a year out of the spotlight. The at-times reclusive comedian is slated to help mark the 200th episode of Inside the Actors Studio by stepping into James Lipton's pensive shoes and guiding the ever-so-spoofable host through reminiscences of the Bravo series' 14 seasons.

But while we know what the subjects of the two-hour November 10 special have been up to—luminaries such as Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Angelina Jolie—Chappelle was last notably heard from breaking his own stand-up record at Hollywood's Laugh Factory on December 2, 2007.

The former Chappelle's Show frontman performed a six-hour, 12-minute set before again peacing out from the public arena.

TAYLOR SWIFT HAS A MESSAGE FOR JOE JONAS WHO BROKE UP WITH HER!

REBECCA ROMIJN SAYS NO MORE WORK TILL SHE DELIVERS TWINS!

"I can't move anymore…I'm a beached whale!" Rebecca Romijn tells Page Six magazine on being preggers with the twin girls she's expecting with hubby Jerry O'Connell.

Yet, the mom-to-be, who says they didn't conceive via in vitro, is determined to not let every part of her anatomy go the way of a marine mammal.

"I have not been without a bra this entire pregnancy. I refuse. I'm not taking any chances. I'm determined to keep the puppies up!"

HUGH HEFNER WISHES ONE OF HIS GIRLS NEXT DOOR ALL THE BEST!

Hugh Hefner may be many things, but he’s not bitter. Following our exclusive item yesterday about Kendra Wilkinson’s touching marriage proposal from BF Hank Baskett, Hugh Hefner issued this exclusive sweet show of support to his former Girl Next Door:

“Kendra Wilkinson has met someone who she would like to spend the rest of her life with. His name is Hank Baskett, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, and he popped the question last Saturday. I have given her my blessing and will be giving her away at a very special wedding ceremony at the Playboy Mansion this coming June.”

The happy couple better book the Mansion now—we know how they love throwing parties. And we hope Hugh gets a plus-two to the wedding, especially if he’s still with twin sisters Kristina and Karissa Shannon by June.

HEIDI KLUM SPENDS $6000 ON VICTORIA'S SECRET LINGERIE AND CLOTHES!

Heidi Klum, doing some serious shopping at the Beverly Center on Election Day. Heidi hightailed it to home away from home, Victoria's Secret, where she spent about $6,000 on lingerie and clothes, but shouldn't Heidi get all her undergarments for free since she models them?

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! Susan Lucci booted off DWTS!

Susan Lucci became the seventh contestant booted from Dancing With the Stars. Still, backstage after the show ended, the soap queen was in remarkably high spirits, gushing, "I'm so glad I did it; it was a great experience!"

Though her costars were a different story…

"It sucks!" Lance Bass told us of Susan's dismissal. "She really did become close to us. She was the one who was so positive, she had the hardest schedule to keep, and I respect everything that she did."

Cody Linley (who landed in the bottom two) seconded that emotion: "This was so nerve-wracking! It was either me or Susan going home, and I was thinking, ‘I don't want to go home, but I don't want to see my friend go home either!' So it's sad to see another part of the family go home."

And yet home isn't really where the hard-working soap star is headed. "I can't wait to return to All My Children and really devote the time to the fabulous Erica Kane and our wonderful fans," Susan told us. "I haven't been on as frequently. Usually I'm there for five or four shows a week. So this way I can devote my time to All My Children, and we won't be dancing the night after All My Children."

Next week for the first time in DWTS history, the dancers will have to perform solo, which already has at least one contestant nervous: Cody. "Everyone's got only 15 seconds to shine away from our partners!" He revealed he'll be dancing with Edyta again next week.

BEST SELLING AUTHOR MICHAEL CRICHTON DIES OF CANCER AT 66!

Best-selling U.S. author Michael Crichton, who wrote such novels as "The Andromeda Strain" and "Jurassic Park" and created the popular TV drama "ER," has died unexpectedly of cancer at age 66, his family said on Wednesday. Crichton, a medical doctor turned novelist and filmmaker whose books have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide, died on Tuesday in Los Angeles after what his family described as a "courageous and private battle against cancer."

GEORGE CLOONEY, ERIC LASALLE RUMORED TO RETURN TO ER!

Despite adamant denials that he would be reprising his role as ER's Dr. Doug Ross before NBC pulls the plug on the seminal medical show in May, Clooney's former partner in scrubs is telling a different tale.

"From what I heard, George said, 'absolutely,' schedule permitting," Noah Wyle tells TV Guide. Clooney publicist Stan Rosenfield says the actor is aware of Wyle's remarks in the magazine but does not have any new comment.

In any case, there's no word on what Clooney's storyline would be or whether he would be joined onscreen by TV wife Julianna Margulies, another alum who has remained mum on a return.

"I would love to see a little view into their life in Seattle," Wyle says. "Or wherever the hell they're living now."

A more definite guest star is Eriq La Salle, who, Wyle spills, will absolutely be making the trip back to County General to reprise his role as Dr. Peter Benton, in a subplot coinciding with Wyle's.

MADONNA BRINGS JUSTIN AND BRITNEY TOGETHER FOR HER L.A. CONCERT!

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake will be performing alongside the Material Girl Thursday when her Sticky & Sweet tour touches down at Dodger Stadium, according to sources.

Of course, while Timberlake and Spears have both collaborated with Madge individually, the exes haven't been spending much quality time together in recent years.

Madonna has a history of sharing the stage with hot young stars: It was the veteran diva who brought Spears and Christina Aguilera together at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, when the popster duo teamed up for "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood" and then took turns smooching.

"SEX AND THE CITY" MOVIE SEQUEL IS OFFICIALLY IN THE WORKS!

A Sex and the City movie sequel is officially in the works. "They're in negotiations," a rep for Warner Brothers Studios confirmed.

This comes after Kim Cattrall appeared on Britian's The Paul O'Grady Show, with guest-host Spice Girl Melanie Brown. When asked point-blank if there will be a sequel to the movie blockbuster, Cattrall replied emphatically..."Yes, there will!"

The 52-year-old actress went on to say, "We will do the sequel next summer. We wanted to the first time, and now we're hopefully doing it again for the second time." She also admitted it is “difficult getting everybody who’s so incredibly busy all together at the same time.”

The first Sex and the City: The Movie, starring Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, was a huge hit earlier this year, earning more than $153 million in the U.S. and distributed worldwide.

In September, writer-director Michael Patrick King hinted to E.W. he was willing to do more: “It doesn’t feel done to me at all. It feels like it generated a whole new burst of enthusiasm for these characters. If I could come up with a really fun, worthy story it would certainly be a great chance to do it again.”

JAIME PRESSLY AND HER DJ FIANCE, ERIC CUBICHE, HAVE SPLIT UP!

The duo welcomed son Dezi James on May 11, 2007, about seven months after announcing their engagement. They were friends for more than nine years before they gave dating a try, with Cubiche proposing after about a year and a half of coupledom.

"We are taking a break from our relationship, but we are together everyday with Dezi and still love each other very much," Pressly told Access Hollywood.

"As you know, we have been friends for over 10 years and will remain close friends as we both adore our son and want to make sure he knows we both love him more than life."

MILEY CYRUS RUMORED BEAU MAY TURN UP ON HER YOUTUBE SERIES SHOW!

The latest Miley Cyrus news may mean things are getting serious between her and rumored beau Justin Gaston, right?

The teen queen's BFF, Mandy Jiroux, said Wednesday that the 20-year-old underwear model could be popping up in a future episode of the Miley and Mandy Show, the gal-pals' fan-obsessed YouTube series.

"For sure, one day," said Mandy, when asked about a possible cameo by Justin, who she happens to think is "really cool" and believes is a good fit for Miley. "They just have a lot in common and they get along really well. They just click."

"HOLLYWOOD BUZZ"! It's now "President-Elect" Barack Obama!

Barack Obama has been elected the 44th president of the United States, becoming the first black man to lead this country in its 232-year history.

The freshman senator from Illinois, who emerged victorious in such key battleground states as Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Nevada and Colorado, ran a hard-fought race against veteran Arizona Sen. John McCain, who conceded just moments after Obama was declared the winner.

"SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" ON TOP OF THE RATINGS AGAIN MONDAY NIGHT!

Saturday Night Live scored its latest ratings coup last night, with a two-hour, prime-time special, Presidential Bash 2008, that brought 50 percent more viewers to the 9 p.m. Monday hour than NBC's usual resident: Heroes.

The SNL show averaged 14.4 million overall, Nielsen estimates said, second only to ABC's Dancing With the Stars (17.8 million). Among adults 18-49, it was Monday's No. 1 telecast.

Elsewhere, Miley Cyrus can still mobilize her base, plus nine other lessons from the latest Nielsen rankings and stats:

1. The tween crown does not yet belong to Selena Gomez. The third-season opener of Cyrus' Hannah Montana (5.5 million) was cable's most-watched series, as well as the Disney Channel show's highest-rated premiere yet.

2. Heroes (8.2 million viewers last week) isn't merely a fading hit among adults 18-49; overall, it can barely match the drawing power of The Biggest Loser (8.13 million).

3. ABC's Grey's Anatomy (15.3 million) may be experiencing Heroes-like turmoil, but it's still TV's biggest draw among women 18-34, and a top-five draw among adults 18-49.

4. Judging ratings against history, even last year's history, is increasingly a waste of time. So, the bottom line on the historically low-rated World Series should be that it led Fox to two straight weekly wins among adults 18-49.

5. Moldy old baseball is more desirable than Chace Crawford. The Fall Classic's decisive Game 5 (19.8 million)—make that, the decisive final innings of Game 5, as seen on Wednesday—drew more women 18-34 than either One Tree Hill, Dancing With the Stars or, yes, Gossip Girl.

6. There's life still in King of the Hill (8.5 million). Days after being canceled by Fox, the 'toon went out and put up its best numbers in a year. ABC is reportedly eyeing a pickup.

7. There's life still in Fox's The Simpsons (12.4 million), which celebrated its latest "Treehouse of Terror" with its most-watched, non-Super-Bowl-night episode in more than four years.

8. There's even life still in the daytime soap. The threat of a tornado decimating Pine Valley scared up All My Children's biggest weekly audience (2.7 million) in eight months, ABC said.

9. Cable does not live by tween viewers alone. The season closer of Lifetime's Army Wives (3.9 million) was cable's most-watched prime-time scripted show. (After Hannah Montana, natch.)

10. So, maybe the Internet isn't killing TV ratings after all. A new Nielsen study says people who use the most Internet also watch the most TV, sometimes doing both "activities" at the same time, thereby ensuring they'll never, ever get a life.

1. World Series Game 5—Conclusion (Tampa Bay/Philadelphia), Fox, 19.8 million viewers
2. CSI, CBS, 19.1 million viewers
3. Dancing With the Stars (Monday), ABC, 18.9 million viewers
4. Dancing With the Stars (Tuesday), ABC, 17.4 million viewers
5. NCIS, CBS, 17.3 million viewers
6. Sunday Night Football (New England at Indianapolis), NBC, 16.7 million viewers
7. The Mentalist, CBS, 16.1 million viewers
8. Desperate Housewives, ABC, 15.9 million viewers
9. Grey's Anatomy, ABC, 15.3 million viewers
10. 60 Minutes, CBS, 14.3 million viewers

HEIDI KLUM KNOWS HOW TO GET ATTENTION WITH HER COMMERCIALS!

Especially when Heidi takes her brand o' crazy to commercials, like this one for Guitar Hero World Tour. Sure, there's a tamer version of her doing the Risky Business scene the traditional way, but what's an homage if you don't put a little twist on it and sell some Victoria's Secret underwear while you're at it?

CARNIE WILSON CONFIRMS SHE IS EXPECTING A SECOND CHILD!

ET confirms that 40-year-old singer Carnie Wilson is pregnant with her second child. OK! magazine was first to break the news and in the article Carnie reveals the unique way she shared the news with husband Rob Bonfiglio.

When Carnie found out she was pregnant she was at home with her 3-year-old daughter Lola but her husband Rob wasn’t home at the time. So rather than calling him to share the news Carnie relayed the message in a rather unconventional way. “I taped the pregnancy test to the front door and drew a picture of little stick figures of Daddy, Mommy, Lola and then a little tiny one.” Carnie tells OK! that the soon-to-be father of two was thrilled, “he took me in his arms and goes, ‘Here we go again, honey.’ He was happy.”

Despite Carnie’s ongoing battle with weight loss, the singer isn’t worried about gaining baby weight and is excited for the new addition to her family. “The most joy you ever can feel is the love for your child. Children teach you so much. Motherhood is challenging, but it’s so fun.” Carnie is expecting her new bundle of joy in June.
