President Barack Obama back in the singing spotlight at a White House blues show, as Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger urged him to step up and sing a few lines. “Not tonight!” President Obama begged off, but blues legends B.B. King and Buddy Guy also joined in the cajoling to sing along to the classic ” Sweet Home Chicago.” To cheers from the audience, a smiling Obama sang parts of the tune, an ode to his adopted hometown, originally made famous by the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson. Earlier President Obama told the audience, “Some nights when you want to go out and just take a walk, clear your head, or jump into a car just to take a drive, you can’t do it. Secret Service won’t let you. And that’s frustrating. But then there are other nights where B.B. King and Mick Jagger come over to your house to play for a concert. So I guess things even out a little bit,” he joked. The entire night’s music event will be broadcast on PBS as part of a celebration of Black History Month on February 27th!

This Jack Russell Terrier, Kandu was born without front legs and his previous owners thought he couldn’t have a good life & needed to be euthanized. But, Kandu’s new family came up with custom wheels that are unlike any you’ve seen before. Then, since they’re in Colorado, they made him a ski for when it snows. Now, they’re working on making swimming possible. It shows that some pretty tough obstacles can be overcome when adopting a dog.

For the first time, NBC is actually posting an entire pilot episode of their new series “Awake” premiering on March 1st online, before it hits your TV screen! Detective Michael Britten wakes up from a car accident with his wife and teenage son, he learns the devastating news that his wife died in the crash. Trying to put the pieces of his life back together, he wakes up a few days later to realize that his wife is very much alive and his son died in the accident! Did he lose his wife or his son? Or neither of them?? The premise here revolves around you could actually have everything you wanted, just not all at the same time, and dealing with alternating realities and not really wanting either “reality” to go away when the totality of both means having your family complete? Like the series notes say, the power of the mind, where the inception of life is a mystery and reality might just be overrated.

Gasoline prices have never been higher this time of the year in the U.S. At $3.53 a gallon, prices are already up 25 cents since January 1. And experts say they could reach a record $4.25 a gallon by late April. California already has topped the $4 a gallon mark this past weekend, and with rising oil prices, some are even predicting $5 a gallon gas by Memorial Day. Oil imported by U.S. refineries and turned into gasoline and other fuels has risen 11 percent so far this year, to around $119 a barrel, because of tensions with Iran, a cold snap in Europe and rising demand from developing nations. West Texas Intermediate, used to price oil produced in the U.S., is up 4 percent to around $103 a barrel. That’s 19 percent higher than a year earlier. A 25-cent jump in gasoline prices, if sustained over a year, would cost the economy about $35 billion.

The biggest story in sports right now is Jeremy Lin of the NBA New York Knicks! Sunday, his 28 points & career high 14 assists with several key steals & buckets down the stretch sealed New York’s victory over the defending NBA champ Dallas Mavericks, 104 to 97! That makes it 8 wins in 9 games since Jeremy came off the bench to become one of the Knicks’ regulars on the floor. This weekend, “Saturday Night Live” opened with a spoof of Linsanity and Sunday’s Madison Square Garden crowd included Kevin Costner, Eva Longoria, Spike Lee, who wore Lin’s No. 4 Harvard jersey, and another famous Harvard face in the crowd, Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg. Lin’s high school coach from his Palo Alto, California High School also was there to see his former star in action. Find out Jeremy’s take on what’s happening all around him, and when he started to realize it with this ESPN interview!
