PICTURES THAT WILL MAKE YOU HOLD YOUR BREATH IF YOU KNOW THE STORY!
This is a case of a photographer photographing another photographer. The following pictures were taken by Hans van de Vorst from the Netherlands... while visiting the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
The descriptions are his own:
I was simply stunned seeing this guy standing on this solitary rock in the Grand Canyon . The canyon's depth is 900 meters here. The rock on the right is next to the canyon and safe. Watching this guy in his thong sandals, with a camera and a tripod, I asked myself 3 questions:
1. How did he climb that rock? 2. Why not take that sunset picture from that rock to the right, which is perfectly safe? 3. How will he get back?
After the sun set behind the canyon's horizon, he packed his things (having only one hand available) and prepared himself for the jump. This took about 2 minutes. At that point, he had the full attention of the crowd that had gathered.
He was now at the point of no return. Then he jumped, wearing only his thong sandals. The canyon's depth is 900 meters (3,000 feet) at this location.
We've now come to the end of this story. Look carefully at the photographer. He has a camera, a tripod and also a plastic bag, all on his shoulder or in his left hand. Only his right hand is available to grab the rock and the weight of his stuff is a problem.
He lands low on his flip flops, both his right hand and right foot slip away ... At that moment, I take this shot. He pushes his body against the rock. He waits for a few seconds, throws his stuff on the rock, climbs up and walks away... presumably to the nearest bathroom to change his shorts !!!

IF YOU FILED A TAX RETURN, HERE'S A FAMILIAR LOOKING IRS LETTER!
By the way, this letter cost $42 million, just to tell us our check is almost in the mail.
The notices went out this month to an estimated 130 million households who filed returns for the 2006 tax year, at a cost $41.8 million, IRS spokesman John Lipold confirmed. That works out to about 32 cents to print, process and mail each letter. It doesn't include the tab for another round of mailings planned for those who didn't file tax returns last year but may still qualify for a rebate. Democrats accused the Bush administration of wasting time and postage.
"There are countless better uses for $42 million than a self-congratulatory mailer that gives the president a pat on the back for an idea that wasn't even his," Sen. Charles Schumer said, arguing the IRS could more effectively spend the money to catch tax cheats.

Before I get to the Urban Legend emails, I just want to mention what today's "BUZZ" item had among the stories, was the passing of the great Hollywood actor, Richard Widmark, who we've just learned, died Monday at his home in Connecticut at the age of 93.
Steve Guttenberg from "Dancing With The Stars" most recently, talked with me about our first movie that we both had a chance to do, was the Universal epic "Rollercoaster" in 1977. It had a huge star studded cast including Henry Fonda, George Segal, Timothy Bottoms and.....Richard Widmark. And Steve credits Richard with saving his part in the film when Steve couldn't deliver his lines without screwing them up. Widmark stopped the Director James Goldstone from firing Steve with just 3 words "Keep the kid"! And for that, Steve is forever grateful to Richard Widmark.

Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.
I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil.

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse. For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you. This information was recently broadcasted on FOX TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

Back in the day, if you had a great picture you wanted to share with the audience, it was impossible unless the local paper picked it up, but these days with the internet and websites, everything can be passed around in the blink of an eye......like these photos today! Cara Winship took this picture on Highway 30, traveling to London, Kentucky. She calls it "God's Hands" and wanted to share it with the rest of the world. She was contacted by Meteorologist John James. He said that this picture of the sky is showing up, in all states, around the world. He wanted to know where Cara was from and where she took it. He saw a similar picture taken in Texas. He said this is amazing to him

"BUZZ" Dr. Seuss king of the box office, & Potter author J.K. Rowling's suicide thoughts! "PHOTO GALLERY" County Supervisor Zev Yaraslovsky, Congressman Brad Sherman, and L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine!
Having done the morning drive show for 16 Los Angeles radio stations, I've had the opportunity to work with a lot of L.A. radio personalities, and having come to Los Angeles as a very young kid less than 3 years after I left my hometown in Nebraska, I've seen a lot of my peers pass on who were older than me, or died of some fateful disease.
The most recent over the weekend both saddened and surprised me. Jack Armstrong, who worked afternoons at 10Q in the late 70's when I was doing the morning show, was found dead in his North Carolina home Saturday. His daughter Devon sent the following message to his radio friends.
"Extremely saddening news... I hoped I never had to write... Our extremely amazing Dad and your friend Jack Armstrong aka John C. Larsh passed away yesterday March 22, 2008 at his home in North Carolina. I wish there was a better way to get the word out but this seems to be the fastest means of communication that he favored.
If you knew him at all, you would know that he wouldn't want you to be sad for a moment. He would want you to remember all the good times, what he gave to radio and to the world. He would also want you to help fight to bring back the personality in radio if at all possible. He loved being a DJ almost as much as he loved being a father and that says A LOT. He put his blood, sweat and tears into both and never gave up what he believed in. He was honest, brave and could tell a joke like no other!! He was the best at everything he did and I know that he touched each and every one of us.
I dont know how he would sign off this letter, maybe it would be "Yoooooouuuuurrr LLLlleeeadaaa!" or just straight up "Jack it up" either which way he would have done it better than anyone.
