Yes, eating nuts at least once a week may help protect your eyes from vision-stealing conditions like macular degeneration.
They also suggest fish for your diet, wearing your sunglasses all the time outside to protect your eyes from UV rays, exercise is also good for your eyes, as well as fresh produce, fortified cereals and supplements!

A FINAL THOUGHT HOW TO SPEND THAT BUSH STIMULUS CHECK THIS SUMMER!
How to use your IRS rebate check:
As you may have heard, the Bush Administration said each of us would get a rebate check to stimulate the economy. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs, if we purchase a computer it will go to India, if we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a car it will go to Japan, if we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only businesses still in the US.
04/23/2008 @ 12:00pm PST Wednesday Morning, April 23rd! It's Administrative Professionals Day, what we used to call Secretaries Day. Don't forget the people who really make the office wheels turn! "BUZZ" Marlee Matlin gone from "Dancing With The Stars", "Idol's" Davids deliver again! "PHOTO GALLERY" Peter Frampton "comes alive" in a 1981 photo with Charlie!
Since 1952, the last full week of April has been designated Administrative Professionals Week (formerly called Secretaries Week) by the International Association of Administrative Professionals, with the 23rd being the official Administrative Professionals Day.
Traditionally, bosses use this time to show their appreciation to their assistants for all of their hard work throughout the year. To help bosses along (apart from giving the usual flowers and candy) we contacted several administrative assistants who were more than willing to give us some suggestion for bosses to show their appreciation during Administrative Professionals Week. Each business relationship is different so you may want to talk to your assistant first, but here are some of the ideas that these administrative professionals came up with:
* Take her/him out for a nice, long lunch at a local fine restaurant; * Provide a morning at a local spa; * Give a gift certificate for a dinner for two or an evening at a hotel or resort; * Arrange for the afternoon off to go shopping and throw in a little spending money; * Provide a long distance calling card; * Arrange for a housekeeper for the day; * Book and pay to have the car tuned up and spring cleaned; * Present a plaque for her/his years of valued work; * Provide a family pass to the movies and plenty of popcorn money; * Arrange to have her/his carpets cleaned or yard prepared for the coming season; * Arrange for groceries to be paid for and delivered; * Find out who is her/his favorite author and buy their latest book; * Offer a three hour lunch or, better yet, the day off! * Outsource some of his/her work to an off-site administrative professional, such as a virtual assistant.
Don’t forget that Administrative Professionals Day or Week isn’t the only time of year you should show your appreciation to the administrative professionals in your life.

This year's birthday was very special too, because I've been notified by the National Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago that I'm one of the 2008 nominees who will be voted on to see which of us will be inducted into that Hall this November in Chicago!
It will be interesting this year because for the first time, not just radio industry peers, but the public will be invited to register and vote for their favorites too. The voting doesn't start until May 1st and lasts till July 15th this Summer, but here's the link in case you want to check it out. After you click on the link, scroll to the bottom to click on the list for the 2008 Hall of Fame nominees. It's after the story of the three posthumous inductees!
As always, I would appreciate your support if you wanted to register and cast your vote. This time it's an honor they've put in the hands of where it should be, the fans who keep us on the radio by listening everyday.

IS THE MAYAN CALENDAR FORECASTING DOOM ON DECEMBER 21, 2012?
So you're worried about earthquakes more than ever now in Southern California with the recent prediction by experts that another big is coming in the next 30 years, no ifs, ands or buts. Scary, huh? There might be something of even more concern to everyone in the world in just a few years.
I had an article sent to me from the website TriviaToday.com about the ancient Maya civilization, from Central America, which had a special calendar that was mind-blowingly accurate. And it predicted that the end of the human life cycle was on December 21st, 2012, the winter solstice.
The Mayans were also good at math and astrology (they accurately predicted an eclipse that occurred hundred of years later). So people are guessing that they were right about the end of the world, too.
Something else that has gotten scientists curious is that there are some major astronomical things happening in 2012. Apart from the occasional eclipse and comet, the entire solar system is supposed to pass through the center of our galaxy, something that happens only once every 26,000 years.
And, there is a risk of our planet's poles switching. Sounds crazy, but scientists say this has already happened. Also, the Indian calendar, the Kali Yuga, ends at about the same time. Coincidence? I think not.
Well, if this is all accurate, then I guess we don't have to worry about shopping for Christmas in 2012:) But don't worry, another explanation I've heard is this fact isn't nearly as frightening as it sounds! The Mayans kept extremely detailed astronomical records and they followed the cycles of the planets and stars as they travel around in their orbits. We are currently in the 4th cycle recorded by the Maya. It started in 3114B.C. and lasts for 5126 years until 2012. With the end of the 4th cycle comes... the beginning of the 5th cycle. The Maya believe that in the 5th cycle the ancient wisdom of the Maya will be rediscovered by the world and it will be a new dawn for mankind! So the Mayan Calendar doesn't end in 2012, it just begins the 5th cycle!
