AND NOW THE GOOFIEST LEGAL QUESTIONS EVER ASKED AN ATTORNEY!

Attorney Lawrence B. Fox is the author of a hilarious series of books including: "There's No Justice Just Court Costs," "The Confused Lawyers Field Guide," "Has My Lawyer Called Yet?," and "No Noose Is Good Noose." Here's his list of some of the goofiest legal questions ever asked:

" I am about to apply for a senior citizen dog license discount. When exactly does a dog become a senior citizen, and is that calculated in dog years?

" The sign said Fine For Parking, so I parked there. Shouldn’t it have said Not So Good To Park Here?

" When I die, can I be buried sitting in my Jaguar? I’m willing to buy three extra large side by side cemetery plots so the funeral director can back the car right in, pointed toward Heaven.

" The cop said my eyes were bloodshot when he arrested me for drunk driving. Can he do that if the left one is made of glass?

" If I’m working under the table, do I have to report that income to the county child support office and the IRS?

" I had a vasectomy and my wife had her tubes tied. Then she got pregnant. Can I sue the doctor and make him pay for the kid until he graduates from high school? What if he wants to go on to college?

" I was having dinner at this restaurant when it caught fire, so I took my meal out to the parking lot and ate it on the hood of my car. Do I have to pay for it?

" Can you write in my mother-in-laws last will and testament that she wants the cheapest funeral in town?

" I’m 70 and the judge just sentenced me to 30 years at hard labor! How am I going to do all that time?

" The bank just made a mistake and put a $10,000 deposit in my checking account. Is it true what they say, Finders keepers, losers weepers? I can afford to pay you for your advice if you give me the right answer.

" If I donate my pancreas and nobody wants it, where should I put it?

" Can I fight my test results for crack cocaine, if I can prove I only do heroin?

" They scheduled me for court on my employers dress down Friday. Will the judge understand if I show up in my bowling league sweat pants?

" If you don’t win my case, are you going to send me a bill?

" Last week they took my horse to the dog food plant by mistake. Can I get her back?

Thursday Morning, May 22nd! Now the Oil Companies are claiming to be hapless victims while raking in unprecedented billions in profits, but continuing to raise our gas prices. "BUZZ" David Cook is the "American Idol" & Ellen DeGeneres challenges John McCain! "PHOTO GALLERY" Wolfman Jack and Charlie in a 1982 photo at Wolfman's studios!

Wasn't one of the hidden agendas of the Iraq War to make sure we could keep our mid-east oil prices steady and our supply sufficient to meet our domestic needs. Well, before the Iraq war, the price of oil was about $28 a barrel, now it's more than quadrupled to over $130 a barrel. And we've poured over a trillion dollars into this war, and sacrificed over 4000 young lives. Think what we could have done with that money on the home front and what those young lives could have contributed to our society.

Some companies and people getting very rich over this conflict, and it harkens back to President Eisenhower's 1961 warning to "Beware of the military industrial complex".

As an former military General, he knew that some companies and administrations would go to war just to satisfy the greed of their friends and supporters and former associates....like Halliburton, for instance, which reported back in the early years of the war in 2005 that it's quarterly profits were up 284%.

The General Accounting Office estimates 48,000 private security and military contractors are stationed in Iraq. The Pentagon's insistence on keeping a lid on military force requirements (thereby avoiding the need for a draft) is one reason for that astronomical growth, which has boosted the fortunes of the "corporate warriors" so much that observers project the industry will be a $200 billion per year business by 2010.

Congress calls the oil company executives on the carpet for hearings every month or so to make it appear that they're doing their job, but the questions are about all that ever really comes out of these hearing exercises. Take a look at the latest yesterday.....

It's all about economics, was the standard reply. Supply and demand. The company leaders tried to shift attention from motorists' anger over $4-a-gallon gasoline to a debate over new areas for drilling.

But senators at the Judiciary Committee hearing weren't having any of that. They wanted to press the executives about public anguish over paying $60 or more to fill up a car's gas tank. "People we represent are hurting, the companies you represent are profiting," Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., told the executives. He said there's a "disconnect" between legitimate supply issues and the oil and gasoline prices motorists are seeing.

The executives, sitting shoulder to shoulder in the hearing room, said they understood people were hurting, but they tried to blunt the emotion with economic analysis.
Profits have been huge "in absolute terms," conceded J. Stephen Simon, executive vice president of Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), but they "must be viewed in the context of the massive scale of our industry." And high earnings "in the current up cycle" are needed for investments in the long term, including when profits will be down. "'Current up cycle', that's a nice term when people can't afford to go to work" because gasoline is costing so much, replied Leahy with sarcasm.

"The fundamental laws of supply and demand are at work," said John Hofmeister, chairman of Shell Oil Co., acknowledging it is something the oil industry has been saying for some time and that the explanation may sound "repetitive and uninteresting."
Hofmeister was joined by executives of Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp. (CVX), BP America Inc. and ConocoPhilips Co. Together the five companies earned $36 billion during the first three months of this year.

It was the second time this year the executives had been summoned to testify before Congress. When they came in early April oil cost about $98 a barrel.

Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., noting that Exxon's profits had nearly quadrupled from $11.5 billion in 2002, said he had heard nothing from the oilmen that would explain "why profits have gone up so high when the consumer is suffering so much." The executives, appearing under oath, cited tight global supplies with scant spare production capacity and the fact that large areas of land and offshore waters remain offlimits to drilling. And they said they're worried Congress was talking of requiring the five companies to pay more taxes. "I urge you to resist these punitive policies," said Hofmeister.

It was not what many senators wanted to hear. You have "just a litany of complaints that you're all just hapless victims of a system," Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., told the executives. "Yet you rack up record profits ... quarter after quarter after quarter."
One senator after another cited the pain that high energy prices are causing farmers, small businesses and people trying to find a way to afford a vacation trip this summer.

"Is there anybody here that has any concerns about what you're doing to this country with the prices that you're charging and the profits that you're taking?" Durbin asked.
The titans of America's oil industry sat quietly for a moment.
"Senator," replied Exxon's Simon, "We have a lot of concern about that. And we're doing all we can to put downward pressure on prices."

Meanwhile, while our economy spirals downward, the oil companies are laughing all the way to the bank. Don't you wish your income was so high, you needed $40 billion dollars a quarter profit just to meet your percentage comparison to other companies? Solar power anyone? Then the oil companies can stick their future profits where the sun don't shine!

TOP SEVEN REASONS WHY BAD WORKERS DON'T FACE THE AX

Have you ever wondered about someone who gave you bad service, or even a lazy co-worker: "Why don't they go ahead and fire this idiot?" The lousy employee may not face the ax because he might have friends in high places, says FabJob.com. The relationship could be romantic, family or even golf or drinking buddies with a senior manager. Here are some more reasons:
" The boss may be afraid of the bad worker because he or she may know something embarrassing about the boss or the company.
" A company supervisor may think the fired employee might sue or stir up all sorts of trouble, if they were to get the pink slip.
" A lousy worker may still bring more value to the company than he costs.
" Replacing someone with a hard to do task might make the hiring process for a new employee a nightmare and not worth the bother.
" Supervisors could even believe the company might be even worse off if they were to find someone else for the job.
" A bad employee may not actually be one - it could just seem to others they are slacking off, while carrying out vital duties no one is aware of.
" A poor worker may be doing exactly what you think they are - pulling the wool over everybody's eyes and getting away with doing little or no work while charming the boss into thinking the company couldn't get along without them.
