As an afternoon Drive Personality, Your morning show became my classroom and my inspiiration every weekday.
I hope that for everyone's sake that you get back on the air soon.
Your style, delivery, voice and personality is definitley unmatched.
Thanks for being a Broadcaster's Broadcaster.

hi there !!
Since you announced that you were asked to leave your morning position at Kbig, I have not listened to the station, I have zapped in and out a couple of times, and there is crazy music, that no one understands. How can that be successful for listeners.
I listened to you every morning, on the way to work. My husband & I won a trip to Catalina. it was great.
Well, please advise where you will be turning up again in the morning, can't wait to tune back in..
Thanks, so much for the great music & morning info.
You are greatly missed.

My heart goes out to you and the staff @ kbig, for the last several years always been a spot for you guys on my favorite channel button. I know things change in radio but it's not right when someone pulls the plug so quickly. I was happy that you were able to do your Tuna-thon before you left. Always enjoyed your smile in the morning, hope to hear you back on the radio real soon.
P.S.
When you come back revive the morning wake up story, you've been a fixture in my life since the days of 93-KHJ A.M.
Know you'll be back soon.
Best always.

Charlie,
Thank you so much for being such a kind, caring, wonderful person!!! Though I never met you personally, I feel like I know you. I always thought of you as an uncle I wish I would have had. You were always so nice and caring to all of your listeners. Stay genuine. I am praying that you will find another radio show soon (hopefully one that plays more of the classic kbig stuff because I wasn't too happy when they changed the format to include hip-hop).
You deserve the best!!! Wishing you the best always!!!
Love,
Ramon

Been a fan since KHJ

Hi Charlie,
I remember setting my alarm in the morning to make sure to wake up to your joke of the day. It was a great experience. The one time I ever called in was when you were discussing a meteor shower appearing that night. I remember telling you a joke asking what type of soap do they use in a meteor shower. You groaned and then I replied, "comet". You were kind enough to put me on the air to tell it again. I still recall that time 30 years later with great fondness.
Best of luck to you in the future. I look forward to hearing your voice again soon.
Sincerely,
John Burgard

Dear Charlie:
I am sorry that you're not driving to work with me anymore. You have been a bright spot in my day each day as I navigate the So. Cal freeways. My wish is that you will be available on another channel as it's not such a great day without you.
I won’t even say how many years I have followed you. So I will be checking your website.
Fondly,

Hi Charlie,
Just wanted to say I am one of the many who miss you very much! Once in awhile I go to KBIG just to see if you are there and although I hear Irma's friendly voice, it's NOT the same. I used to listen to you and Irma when getting ready for work and I've now switched. (KBIG has boring, put me to sleep kind of music)
Of course when I get to work I listen to Rick Dees. I was thrilled when he returned to radio and I wait for the day when you return too.
PS-Happy Halloween!

Even in NYC, we miss hearing you

Hi, Charlie
I lived in Los Angeles from 1977 through the end of 1980. When I arrived in town, you were doing mornings at KHJ, just before John Sebastian told you all to shut up and play the hits. I was happy to hear you resurface at Ten-Q, which was the last truly great Top 40 station I have heard to this day. There was a lot of great morning radio in those days, from Whittinghill at KMPC, Whittington on KGIL, Fraser Smith on KLOS, Lohman and Barkley on KFI, etc. Yet you were home base for me in morning radio. Yours was the show I kept gravitating back to. I followed you to KHTZ (and still have the tape I recorded of the Ten-Q / K-Hits simulcast in 1979...it has been widely circulated among aircheck collectors). While I wasn't thrilled with the soft AC direction that the station soon took, I continued to listen to and enjoy your morning show until I moved back to New York in December, 1980.
A couple of days before I moved out of town, I called you about a cassette that someone had sent me called "The History Of Charlie Tuna". The cassette had airchecks of you on every station you had worked at up to that time. I recall making a trip to KHTZ to meet you after your show that day, to give you a copy of the tape. You couldn't have been nicer when you came out to meet me. Although I'm in the business (currently as Senior Producer for the ABC Radio Networks, and producer of WABC's annual Rewound special), I'm also a fan of great personality radio. You are one of the best I've ever heard...and I've listened to and worked with some of the best in the business.
When I heard that you were doing your last show on KBIG, I went straight to the web stream to check it out. It was the first opportunity I've had to listen to you in many years, and I have to say you sounded as good as ever, if not better. I wish we could have you here in NY at WCBS-FM...you'd be a perfect fit. On the other hand, I think L.A. needs you more. I believe that you and Jim Ladd may be the last links to the golden age of L.A. rock 'n' roll radio. Anyway, I've been in radio too long to be rambling on like a "fanboy". I just want to wish you the very best in your future endeavors.

Charlie
WHAT the hell is going on. I am so upset at not hearing you in the morning on K-Big. I don't care for the new format, most of the music is so blah. I need the uplifting music like before. The DJs are the heart and soul of the station and you are the biggest part of this. As a loyal listener you need two things to make a radio station work, the DJs and the music. With you gone I am searching for another station. I loved hearing you. There's not enough uplifting music. Plus no DISCO.
Like I said I'm searching for another station.
Thank You for all those great mornings. Please let us know where you go. I need my Charlie Tuna in the morning.

Come Back....?

Charlie,
I moved to Southern California in 2006. Since that time, I listened to you and the morning show everyday as I drove to work. I was fortunate enough to speak with you last February when I was one of the winners of the “mac-a-day give-away” for my SuperStar kids…..
As I was traveling…..I guess I didn’t really realize that your show was ending…..and I was surprised (and saddened) to not have your familiar voice on my radio. I know that you have been a very motivational and influential person in the LA area and all of So-Cal and I hope that you will be back.
Thank you for the year and a half of good listening I really enjoyed your show.
Thanks again..

Hi Charlie,
I first remember listening to you on KKDJ (Pre KIIS-FM) waaay back in the 70s. In fact I was listening when the station “married” with KIIS-AM remember that? When you returned to LA I gritted my teeth and listened to you on that scratchy AM station and was so happy when you became the KBIG morning guy.
Best of luck to you and know that wherever you go next, if I can hear it, I will be there.
Thanks for so many years being a part of the soundtrack to my life.

Hey Charlie,
I get an opportunity, to send you an email, although under Sad circumstances for you and us at home.
I have been listening to your show every morning since you started at KBig 104 - I am an New American so I cant say I have heard you for years.
Now it seems as though there is a VOID in my Early Morning - which I must Say Happened quite Suddenly.
As we all Know - Big Business, Either they don't like what you said or the ratings are down or the Internet website was not getting enough hits - so they make a Corporate Decision - to oust you.
What happened to the days when you could almost start your own station? Sometimes Lawmakers can get in the way of what's good for the people - and its always about MONEY.
Good luck - I am sure you will pop up somewhere good - as Cream always rises to the top.

I am so sad
Received: 10/30/2007 @ 12:03pm PST
From: Patty Blair
I have been a fan of yours for years and I never write or call in, but this time I had to write and vent my feelings! I no longer listen to your radio station unless they put you back on. It was so sad when Leanne was let go because I thought the two you were so fantastic with each other and played off each other so easily, like you knew what the other one was thinking. It was hard at first when she was gone but you were the main reason I listened.
My drive to work is always at least one hour if not more. You are what made that station and they are fools! I loved that you always gave some kind of information or facts each day that were great to hear about, some of my family calls me a "techno weenie" because I always want to know about everything and read a lot and think you are the same way.
What ever happens will be for the best. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing where your new life adventure takes you. Take a nice vacation, take your kids and have some quality fun!
Thanks for all the great talk,
Patty Blair
P.S. My husband is in construction and has his radio on to you every morning starting at 5am and he has changed channels. He wishes you well too (Rick Blair)

The airwaves don't seem the same

From: Kevin
Hi Charlie - I've been listening to you on KBIG for years now. I'm really saddened by their decision to drop your morning show. It was always one of the highlights of my day...listening to you and the crew as I drove into work.
I'm really not happy with the radio station now...their music selection also seems really odd. But, most of all, I miss your cheerful voice in the morning. I guess the ride to work just won't be the same until you're back on the air.
Until then, I'm not going to listen to KBIG anymore...the music is disappointing now and without my favorite radio host, then what's the point.
Good luck with future endeavors...let us know where you end up next. You're missed.
Best,
Kevin

It is very sad to wake up in the morning and not hear your voice. I don’t know why on earth they would decide to remove you from the radio, but in my opinion it was a bad move that I feel they will soon regret. At any rate, I hope there are many new roads for you to journey down and I very much hope we will get to hear you back on the radio soon!!!
Best wishes!

I've been following you since the early days (KHJ!!!) and look forward to your next adventure. Hope all is well with you, and I just wanted you to know that there are a lot of us out there in your corner.

Missing You

Charlie:
I just returned from my vacation to find you are gone and so is the morning show I so enjoyed with you. It just isn't the same without you and I can't believe the station made such a mistake. It was a great morning show - the entire team made my morning drive easier and I kept you on at the office. Please let me know where and when you will be on again. I will not be listening to my FM as it is no longer mine. KBIG 104.3 will be fondly remembered. I feel the same way I did as a teenager when KFWB became an all news show.
The morning just isn't the same without you.

sorry to see you go
Received: 10/29/2007 @ 12:42pm PST
From: Bob Thompson
Charlie - I am sincerely sorry to see you are gone from (that station). Their new format has changed my stations from 104.3 in the morning to 94.7. The music is questionable and there is no morning wake up talks that help me from 6-7 am drive to work and get in a good mood. The station probably did what they thought was needed to move into the new ear - but it stinks.
I know you receive a lot of e-mails. I was one of the first to write you when the community of the day started at 6:40 - commenting that the other personalities did not do theirs on time - one thing we could count from you. No one likes change (I am Vice President of a company in the OC and enjoy my routines) - but the change they made stinks and the should regret not having your morning show!
Best of luck to you, everthing in life happens for a reason and karma comes back 10 fold.
Make it a great day!

I recently learned that KBIG changed their format, and letting you go was not the thing to do!
I always enjoyed listening to you in the morning and always brightened my day. You were the one that told me about 9-11 and your calm demeanor kept Los Angeles informed during this national crisis. You were my companion during the times I had to spend in the hospital with my son.
I wish only the best and look forward to hearing you again across the LA airwaves.

I'm glad to know you'll be back on the air soon - somewhere. I only hope it's in the L.A. market, or I'll have to move! I know you'll emerge better and stronger from this change. Hurry back!

Hi Charlie,
Like all your other listeners, I was sad to hear you were not going to be on the air at K-Big anymore. It's not the same since you left. I used to love the show, but now they've made a lot of changes, even the music is different. I miss hearing your voice, I had been listening to you for a while. It's sad for me to say this, but I might switch to another radio station. I can't get used to those changes and I don't know if I ever will. Take care and good luck with your future!

You make morning radio for me and I hope your management realizes they are going to lose a lot of listeners without you. Me for one. I remember once you played an
April's fool joke saying you were going off the air and I didn't realize it was a joke for about a week because I quit listening. I want to wish you the best and please add me to your e-mail list of fans.

Thanks for all the years of enjoyment and company you brought over the many years I listened to you. I got to say good bye on the phone, but I felt I should drop you a note too.
Yes, from KHJ until now has been a long trip. I think you are one the major players in setting what morning radio is supposed to be. Truly "media is the massage" and you are a master. Formats such as the one KBIG has gone to have come and gone, but people eventually realize that morning radio is about having someone to help you get going, informing you and in most cases putting that smile on your face as you got out the door to face the world.
And you always strived to keep the show and music within family values, which many of us appreciated.
Charlie, thank goodness for the web, it'll be easier to find you this time. Maybe you should consider starting a Web radio station :)
Good Luck Charlie
