Fare thee well, until we meet again
Received: 10/29/2007 @ 1:30am PST

Hi Charlie:
I am very sorry to see you go off KBIG. I was tied up at work & wasn't able to tune in and it blew my mind as to what I heard. I had no idea that the programming was to change. As I have been told by my grandparents, "As one door closes, another one opens." I have all the faith in the world that we'll be hearing you real soon on our FM dials. Better days are ahead, my friend!

Count me in as one of those life time fans that miss you tremendously. I sure with all due respect hope clear channel knows what they are doing. Not only did they have a winner in you as their morning program however they had a radio station in KBIG that was the best around. I will truly miss listening to IT each and every day.
For you...I believe it is only a short time I will miss hearing you, this as if Clear Channel does not get you back on air soon I am sure another station will. They will be crazy not to! I wish you the best in what ever this new chapter of your career brings you.

Charlie, I have listened to you for many years. I hope that you will be back on the air soon. Please keep us posted as to what's happening with you. L. A. radio is not the same without you. I've had my alarm clock radio set to KBIG 104.3 for ages so that way I can hear a familiar voice in the morning, yours. We need you back!!!
God Bless you, Charlie.

I listened to your show that last Monday in the morning like I usually did as I prepared
to take the kids to school, I never heard that it was the last one. I didn't listen the next day, so I didn't find out until Tuesday night, when my husband told me you were off the air. We are so disappointed, my husband's really mad and frustrated. We hope to hear you again somewhere else. Please let us know, when you know.
Waiting to Listen to You Again!

What happened???

Hi Charlie
I feel like I know you even though we have never met. I was so disappointed when I heard you on the radio announcing that it was your last day. I was so sad. I am still sad. I am still in disbelief. I keep turning the radio on hoping to hear you and turn it off when I hear endless music.
This may sound strange, but I never listened to the radio until 2 years ago. I am a nurse and used to work nights and when I started day shift, I started to listen to your morning show.So now that you are no longer on, I refuse to turn on the radio until I read that you are back on the air. That is where you belong, not behind a desk working on projects.
You made my morning commute such much fun and your laugh was contagious. You have such a talent and its easy to see why you have had the career you have. I hope for nothing but the best for you and hope you find your way back on the air soon......you are sooooo missed as you are well aware of by now because of the hundreds of emails you are receiving.
Thanks for the countless ways you "touched" my mornings and what a sad moment it was hearing you say goodbye.
I will check your website often and thank your son for putting it together. You are a true talent and hope to hear you again soon.

Dear Charlie-
I really can't believe it. I don't know what to say, i am crushed, saddened and rather disgusted with radio altogether. You have been such an important part of my journey as a singer/songwriter. You have given a human, personal, real aspect to the ugly business-side of music. You are not only amazing on-air talent with an amazing voice, brains and people skills, you are a magician with the technical aspect of DJ ing--you really know how to work it!
I miss you terribly. Please put me on your e-mail list and keep me notified of where you will be next.
Peace, love and appreciation,
Katrina Carlson

Where Are You?
Received: 10/28/2007 @ 4:39pm PST
From: Maria Sleeper
Charlie Tuna where are you? I just wanted to say that I am having a hard time trying to find a new morning routine. Boy, are you a hard act to follow.
First you play a prank on April Fools Day - which I fell for. My 2 children and I were on our way to Sea World for a day of fun (finally got a day off), we are hearing you on KBIG and you tricked us. Well, I did not know until the next day that this was a joke because when we got into San Diego we lost the station transmission and I was sad all day - at Sea World - shocked that you would leave the radio. Well, now I am sad again. KBIG will never be the same. I have followed you from station to station all these years (since KHJ) and introduce you to my children whom also enjoy listening to you as well.
My computer time is limited but I will visit your web site periodically to see where you are at. I wish you the best today and always. You have given so much joy to so many listeners all these years no matter what station you are at. I hope to hear you on the air very soon - got to get my "TUNA FIX" as my kids say.
Charlie - you're the greatest. From a long time fan who appreciates you. Please try and come back to us soon somewhere somehow.
I wish you the best and hope all is well with you while you are in this transitional period as well. If it's hard on us fans/listeners I imagine it's very hard on you.
God Bless you Charlie,
Maria Sleeper

I even listened to you when you were on that sports station, and I am not a big sports fan, I love baseball, and tolerate football and play a little golf and that is about it. But I still listened to that sports station on my morning drive because you were on, and a morning drive with Charlie went so much faster than a morning without. So please, please get back on the air and let all your fans know where to find you.

Dear Charlie -
I have followed you across the radio dial for many, many years. I have to say that often times, I didn't tune in for the music, but I tuned in for YOU! I didn't care what kind of music was played -- I wanted to hear the talking.
You have a way of making each and every listener feel like you're speaking directly to them.
I have no doubt that you will soon find another radio station that you can call home. Please let us all know where you are -- those early morning hours will not be the same without your voice!!
Thank you for those many years of "conversation"

Charlie-
I was truly sorry to hear about your departure from KBIG. I live in the San Diego area and every morning when I was driving to work in Irvine I would listen to you. You are the greatest. The radio station made the biggest mistake of letting you go.
I wish you all the luck in the world and I know that someday soon I will hear your happy voice again on the radio.

Charlie,
I really miss listening you during my morning commute. It really got me through traversing the 405 from the Valley to Culver City.

Please keep us informed on your next endeavor. Good luck!

What the hell, man
I don't know about these changes. We missed you the moment we heard about you leaving that morning.
These changes don't smell good.
We love you Charlie starting from 93 KHJ.
When I was a kid I did not have a T.V. in my bedroom so I got a hold of a small radio and placed it between my bed and the wall on the floor, when I listened to it, I would lay on my bed face down with one hand on the volume control in case mom or dad came in.
I don't know what else to tell you aside from the fact that I am saddened by the news.

Kbig Huge Mistake
Received: 10/25/2007 @ 5:11pm PST
From: Sue Anderson
Hi Charlie,
I have been a faithful listener for more years than I want to admit. I miss hearing you each morning. Kbig made a huge mistake. I don't like the music they have been playing and don't like hearing 15 minutes of commercials instead of you. All of the fun you brought to me each morning is gone. There is no other radio station I have found that surpassed yours. So, I guess I am stuck still listening to Kbig until you announce where you are going next. I hope you are going to be back on the air somewhere again soon, please let me know when you do, so I can program my radios for your new station. I also miss Gary Spears. Where did he end up going?
I hope to hear back from you. I know you must be getting a lot of emails to answer.
Missing you!!!!!!!!!!

Until We Meet Again

From: Sunday Moore
Hello Charlie,
Several of us in the office who listened to you every morning were very saddened to learn about your last day on air with KBIG. We were also not happy to learn that the station changed to MY FM. I know that there is constantly change. All things happen for a reason . With as long as you have been a voice on the radio, I know that bigger and better things are bound to come for you.
I actually had the opportunity to meet you for the first time at a Grand Re-Opening of our local Ralphs store in Granada Hills. My husband thought I was crazy to get your autographed photo, and some friends actually heard me on the radio one day as a taped recording from that event.
With that said, I will wait, patiently, for your return.... to a bigger and better venue and opportunity. I will not say goodbye....
Until We Meet Again,

charlie,
oh how i miss listening to you every morning! it will never be the same. right now i'm still in the process of finding a new station in which i will be satisfied like i did when you were at kbig.
i still cannot figure it out!. did clear channel just tell you you won't be on air any longer just like that? did they at least give you options or choices or they are just cold blooded people who dont care about what you've done for them? Unless they make you a "BIG BOSS" please don't work for them anymore. just go to another station and we'll follow you wherever you go.
sincerely,

Missing You

From: Gayle Hensley
Hi Charlie,
I keep thinking how great you were on KBIG. The new people don't compare to you. I loved not hearing any profanity. This is what I now hear on the new station. It really turns me off to listening. Wish you were on. I still don't quite understand what happened but I'm sure they are not fools and will not let you go without using your talents of communication to the public. You are great. I normally only got to listen to you in the morning on the way to work (I am a teacher). I miss hearing your wonderful voice. Please come back soon or let us know where we will be able to hear from you. You are one of a kind-a special shining star that lights up our world. Thanks for all of your great caring mannerisms that I truly enjoyed listening to. KBIG was one of the few if not only radio stations that we did not hear profanity used and the crew was so wonderful in their approach to subjects discussed with such great personalities that blended so well. Great Job!!! Gayle

Good Morning Charlie,
I have been a listener for quite a few years now and I am sad to hear that you will no longer be with us live in the mornings. I am a 29 year old female and have always appreciated the warmth and closeness that your morning brought. When I was younger I used to listen to KOST and I still enjoy their music but, I loved listening to you and Irma Blanco. You two use to make me laugh. I love music too, don't get me wrong but I would turn the music down when you were not on the air or on commercial break. I never met you nor Irma and I never called in nor won anything. I listen just for the entertainment you gave. Although the morning show now is okay, I have opted not to listen very often. Irma doesn't talk as much and Valentine well, he's a different personality. Not quite for me.
Thank you for dedication and I hope to hear you soon somewhere.

Hey Charlie, my wife and I were shocked when we heard that you were no longer on the air with KBIG. In this day and age of people in the spotlight having over inflated egos and not caring about the fans that make them famous, you are sure to land on your feet as you are the exact opposite of that. I want to thank you for the times you made me laugh while stuck in traffic, you made the commute to the valley easier. You care about us the people that listen to you and that is evident, good luck to you and God Bless. You will succeed wherever you go!

Hi Charlie, I have been listening to you since you started on 93 KHJ. In fact, I went to the 93 KHJ event at the Hollywood Bowl and still have the vinyl LP from the event. My how time does fly.
Just wanted to let you know that your voice will be missed on the air waves of L.A. until you decide where you are going to make your next debut. Hope you make your decision soon.
K-BIG's format has not been too good for the last couple of years for my taste anyway, but I did keep it as one of the channels I surf on my way to work each morning. I was so glad I heard you that Monday morning or else I would have wondered what happened to you.
I was very impressed by your quote at the end of your web message. It is so true and so YOU.
Thank you for bringing a smile to my face on a regular basis.
Your next gig will be better than the last.
Regards,
Michele Bockes
P. S. I grew up in Tarzana on Shirley Avenue between Oxnard & Hatteras. So I love hearing you talk about the Valley and being a resident of Tarzana.

so sorry to hear that you're gone! i miss the great music and don't like the "adult comtemporary" format the station provides now.(i tried it for a day and didn't like the songs) i miss the disco and all the great dance stuff, but just wanted to say you were part of my mornings, and will be very hard to replace. when you "ride to work" with someone every day you become more than just a dj.
you are missed.

Even though I am not in LA anymore you are what got me through my day back here in Atlanta. Are you ever going to be back on the air? Valentine is ok but he is not you. Also what happen to the midday disco lunch break.
Your station has no idea how much I felt like home being stuck here in Atlanta, with the stations stuck in their 1970’s format. It seems there is more than just a time lapse here, it is a culture lapse as well.
Wish you well with what ever you're doing

Missing You

From: Jeff Hall
Charlie,
Just please know how many thousands of listeners and fans are missing you right now… You were such a permanent fixture in so many people’s lives, whether it be while driving to work in the morning, waking up at home, or listening in at work….
I had the privilege to meet you twice in person over the course of the past 20 years or so, while I was a contestant on both Scrabble and Scattergories, and you truly are an incredibly nice person to go along with being a tremendous DJ and announcer…. As I approach 50 years of age myself, I still have faint memories of the GREAT radio jingles of 93 KHJ back in the late 60’s, with the Real Don Steele, and of course, CHARLIE TUNA!!! Hard to believe that was like 40 years ago!!!
Anyway, I just want to know that both myself and the love of my life are missing you tremendously on the radio; the new My FM just isn’t an adequate substitute, and we can’t wait until Clear Channel has the wisdom and vision to get you back on the air in LA, hopefully during AM drive time, cuz it just isn’t the same without you….
Take care and best of luck always!!!

Dear Charlie,
I woke up to my favorite show that morning in September! Typically KBIG bubbles with fun and laughter. But for some reason it was dead, flat and numb. After a few songs, I realized the radio climate was definitely not the same! Something was terribly wrong . Then I was stunned, then heart broken, then FREAKED out to find out you did your last show on Monday. I am so bummed out! You made me chuckle and laugh for years.
Clearly , you are a celebrity unlike the rest of them. You are genuine and a person of great integrity. I respect you highly and value our morning relationship tremendously! Believe me, you are sorely missed!
Knowing you, you will use this closed door as an opportunity to open French doors with lots of windows... your life will be richer and better because of your good nature and abundant gifts!
Live life in big bites and don't forget to WALLOW IN THE JOY OF SLEEPING IN (for awhile)!!
A devoted, "always laughing at your jokes" every morning listener,

Dear Charlie,
I am a 27 year-old male living in the San Fernando Valley who looked forward to hearing you on KBIG until the end of time. The team at 5:00 am was truly outstanding. I know that things might be difficult and uneasy, but I just wanted to know that each morning you made me laugh, cry, shout, and attempt to dial while being in rush hour traffic. Clear Channel has made a kBIG mistake and soon they will realize that something fresh is not always better. I look forward to hearing your voice on the radio soon and I also hope that you get some much needed R&R. Take care of yourself and God Bless you.
Sincerely,
Joel Espinoza
