Hi Charlie,

I, along with everyone else in L.A., was totally surprised to hear that your morning show two weeks ago was your last at KBIG. I enjoyed all the memories you shared, and the last song from Sinatra and your last goodbye brought a tear to my eye.

I've listened to you for more than 30 years on the radio here in L.A., and that's why I know that...YOU'LL BE BACK! And I can't wait for that.

Thanks for all the laughs. And I'll stay Tuna'ed!

Mary

Hi Charlie-

I feel like you're one of the family! I was very disappointed to tune in and hear your last day on the air! (I usually listen to Radio Disney for my son (he's 2), but I told him we were staying on KBIG so I could hear you!)

I too, am one of those people who grew up listening to you on KHJ-AM when I was a kid. (I reminisce about my old "AM only" radio from the 70's.) Your sense of humor was infectious and I loved it! I was so happy when I heard you back on the air at KBIG. I woke up to you every morning (as many of your listeners did) and even though I hated going to work, you always put a smile on my face so I could summon up the courage to walk thru the door. I don't know what I'll do now for that added boost of confidence. ;-)

Good luck in your future endeavors! I'll miss you Charlie Tuna!!!

KBIG is not KBIG without Tuna

Dear Charlie Tuna,

I have been a KBIG listener for several years and I cannot imagine KBIG without you. I want to thank you for dj'ing (is that a word) KBIG and gracing our mornings with your talent, upbeat attitude, and positive energy. I have a long commute to work (over an hour each way, 1 1/2 hours, usually) and I really enjoy listening to your show and laughing. It really gets me off to a great start and makes the long commute bearable.

I like the special segments (drivers beside me must think I'm nuts, stuck in traffic, laughing) like "would you rather" and interesting facts. KBIG is not the same without you on the air.

Whatever is in store for you in the future, I hope it is great and bright. I think it's funny that I like tuna, but I'm allergic to it. Not you, I'm allergic to the fish.

I know you must have thousands of emails to go through, so if this goes unanswered, I understand. But I do you want you to know that you are an excellent radio personality. You entertain and make us laugh without attacking other peoples' characters or cursing. The radio needs more radio personalities like you.

All the best,

Tuna listener who's allergic to tuna

I used to switch back and forth between your show and Jamie, Jack and Stench. After 10am, I would switch over to 570 for all the Big Band music. I now listen to Brad Chambers online. Jamie, Jack & Stench have a podcast and Jack just got a job in San Diego. Your show was great.

Can't wait for you to get on a station that appreciates your intelligence, humor and knowledge. Keep your chin up.

Are you going back on the air soon? I miss Lori, she is HOT!

Charlie!

So I go away to Chicago for business. And upon my return, I turned on the radio this morning on my drive to work, and you were nowhere to be found. Did a quick google search when I got in the office and well....imagine my surprise at what I've missed out on in the past couple of weeks! I'm never leaving town again. Ok....thats not true. I have to leave for China in a couple of weeks. But you get the point! My goodness! I'm sure you're still doing wonderful and keeping busy as you've always done. So I will leave you with this.... *squeeze*- a big hug for my favorite DJ

Dear Charlie,

I am at a loss without you in the mornings! Two weeks ago I drove to San Francisco Friday morning listening to your show and drove back Monday morning. On Tuesday I turned on the radio to catch the morning show and there was nothing! Since I am a community member, I received an email notifying me of the changes and with all due respect to you Mr. Tuna, IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sad, I'm appalled, I'm disgusted...jeez am I expressing enough feelings here? I am totally besides myself!!!!! I am ssssssssssoooooooooo disappointed with this whole new change (and I am pretty good coping with change). I know that there are times when changes are made, they are generally sometimes for the good but in this instance it isn't.

I know that you've heard this over and over again but I grew up listening to you when you were on KHJ. Time went on, I got older and wiser and I found KBIG. I absolutely loved Boogie Nights on Saturdays! I then decided to also tune in, in the mornings and to my surprise I heard that familiar voice and Holy Moses there you were!! I had found you again Charlie Tuna!!! I never stopped listening to you. I listened to you on the internet and I even had my co-workers listen to the station as well. When one of us missed the community of the day one was sure to tell us what it was. I loved the noontime disco with Kari Steele and let's not even discuss how many times I texted Joe Vinyl to play my favorite song. I even spoke to Christian Wheel one night to send a shoutout to my softball team called the Academia Nuts. We now go by the name Superfriends...I am at a loss.

Please, please Charlie let me know what station you will be on so that I may tune in and listen to you so that I can once again feel complete!! I missed you thru my teenage and early adulthood years, I don't plan to miss you again.

I love ya Mr. Charlie Tuna, I hope and pray that all will go well for you so that we may once again listen to you on the air. I will pray to Saint Joseph who is the Patron of work to get you back on the radio and I will also keep you in prayer when I go to rosary tonight.

Your faithful listener now and always,

Dianna Tavira

I?was so amazed by your work with CHOC that me and my mother would also listen to you as we drove to school.

Dear Charlie,

I am going through major withdrawal pains. I miss your personality and your relationship with your colleagues. It was like waking up to your family as we get ready for school, work, or whatever, and saying everything you can until you see each other again.

Except in this case, I am saddened that I don’t get to hear you guys in the am, and during work.

My prayers to you, and I am sure only the best will happen for you. Only good comes to those who have given such joy to others (and most of us are strangers to you, but you’re not a stranger to us…a “good morning friend”)

Hope to hear you again on the radio.

I wake up every morning to your radio show at 6am and start my day, which includes getting two kids ready for school and myself ready for my day with the kids. Somehow I missed part of that Monday's show saying you were no longer going to be a part of KBIG. I thought I had just missed your comments and such as I was rushing to get everyone ready and out the door. Then I found time to read my emails and noticed one saying they were changing the station and how things were done. I lived for my morning tea with you. It's truly not the same in the morning without you to start my day. I feel a void has come in and has taken over a part of my day. I will definitely check your website to find out where you are moving to. Thank you for being such a big part of my day and making it worth starting in the morning. I wish you and your family well and hope you find a new place to hang your hat very soon.

I have been listening to you since you were on KHJ, KKDJ, and KIIS, since the late 60s and the 70s. I remember seeing you in the movie Rollercoaster. I have really enjoyed listening to you on KBIG for the last 7 years. I will miss listening to you and I do wish you the best. You are the last of the great LA DJs.

Charlie,

Can’t even remember how long I’ve been listening to you, but I know it dates back to KHJ. I will really, really miss hearing your wonderful voice and “takes” on life in general?I’ve lost my best friend in the morning while trying to endure the drive from beach area to USC. It’s just a boring, usual station now. I finally have a reason to switch to satellite radio! Take care,

I was devastated to wake up that Monday morning and hear you saying goodbye to all of us. I just discovered you 8 Months ago but trust and believe my dial was on you every weekday morning. You are a breath of fresh air and always delightful to listen to. Should you go on the air again in the future I will find you. That would be a huge joy to me.:-) Love ya Mr. Tuna . Until another radio station gets their act together by bringing you onto their channel, be safe, good and God bless.

Hi Charlie,

I was extremely surprised when you announced that you would no longer be hosting the morning show at kbig.

It made no sense to me until I arrived home and found an email stating the new plans for the station. I am definitely not in favor of the new format.

However, I am very grateful for the time that I was able to listen to you in the morning.

You are definitely a class act. I have never been the type of person to listen to a morning show, but yours was different. Your hosting and interview skills are exceptional to say the least.

The way you conducted yourself on air your last morning was exceptional. You deserve the best.

The Frank Sinatra song was perfect.

I wish you the best in any new ventures that you decide to go with.

Thank you for putting a smile on my face and showing me what it means to be a true professional.

You made the difference

Dear Charlie,

I am one of your listeners and was shocked when you said that it was your last day with the show.

I have to say that the story that you recently told, this past September 11th, really made me think.

I was driving to work and you were telling different incidents that had occured to some people who made it to work late (therefore they are alive today) that may seem insignificant but made a difference. Then you said something as to think that I am where I am right know because that is the place where God wants me to be at this time.

Those words mean a lot to me. They offer comfort.

Your show was always decent, positive, humorous and enjoyable. I believe it was quality radio.

I'm sure that you are and you will be where God wants and would like you to be.

I am sure that you will have another show.

Keep up the faith and outstanding work.

Sincerely,

A listener.

Dear Charlie,

You are the singular reason I listened to KBIG and set my radio alarm to wake up to your show. Having grown up listening to your top hits show as a teen when I lived in northern CA, I was thrilled when I found you at KBIG. I hadn't been a regular KBIG listener but when I stumbled across your broadcast, I stuck once I heard you on the air. There is something so genuine and warm that comes across in you. You have that "it" which is inexplicable but definitely a gift.

I've just checked KBIG's website as I wanted to tell them I would no longer listen to the station until you were back on the air (either at KBIG or another major station) but it appears that there is no contact link (or I may have missed it). However, you are welcome to use this email as proof of yet another listener amongst many who misses your show and wants you back on the air.

I hope to hear you on the air again soon!

All the best,
Lynda Schmidt

Hi Charlie,

I have listened to you for a long time on KBIG and I never thought I would see the day that you are not on the air in the mornings at KBIG. I caught a little bit of your last show right in the middle and did not know the whole story so I was shocked when I did not hear you on the air the next morning. It saddens me that you and your crew are no longer there in the morning. You are so famous and I can not believe that the station would not include you in their new plans, this is ridiculous. I am glad that you set up your website or else I would never know what happen to you and that would be just a shame. Let me know where you will be and I will switch stations to hear you on the air again.

Thanks for all the years. You are the best!!!

Take care,

Dear Charlie,

I have had the privelege of listening to you through my teen years, and you are all time favorite radio DJ. I feel that I have "grown up" with you through your Tunathons, radio chats, contests and more. Listening to KBIG in the morning has provided an uplifting and humorous start of each day, and I thank you for your insights, your kindness, and especially your genuine loving character. Our hearts are with you through this transition period, and I sincerely hope that you will continue to find ways to contribute to making people's lives better. Wherever you go, you have our support.

My favorite quote is " The purpose of life is to find your gift, the meaning of life is how you give it". Thank you for sharing your gift with us for all these years.

With heartfelt thanks,

Cynthia

Good Morning Charlie,

I just wanted to add my two cents of this forum.too. I guess I'm one of the last to discover you're no longer on 104FM. I mean no disparagement to the new DJ, but it's just not the same w/out you.

104FM was programmed as one of my favorite stations for my morning commute, now I'm frustrated enough to find another station to listen to until you 'land' somewhere on LA radio.

I sincerely hope some (smart) programming exec at another station exercises the wisdom that 104FM lacks and put you back on the air, quickly. Judging from some of the other letters I read (I had to stop reading b/c tears keep welling up in my eyes), I'm not the only ticked off, disappointed listener.

I'm no longer a listener of 104FM or 93.9FM. Interesting how both of those stations are going for the exact same audience w/two DJ's formerly with a station that caters to the same audience these two stations are pursuing. Damn dumb business decision. Three stations going for one demographic. It's so sad it's almost funny.

If you have some sort of mailing list or newsletter I'd like to included. I want to know where you end up so I can program you into my favorites once again.

Please tell me you will still be the MC for the Fourth of July festivities @ Warner Park in Woodland Hills. I look forward to you hosting it every year.

I wish you absolutely the best. You've shown yourself to be an amazing human being and all the great things you've done will come back to you ten-fold. You deserve all your blessings and I'm sure more are on the way.

Luck, love and light.
Aloha/Namaste'

Charlie,

I was on vacation and missed the announcement. I turn on the radio last week and hear a different person. I’m thinking to myself ‘ok, he’s on vacation’. So I’m not thinking anything about it, Tuesday comes along and same thing. I already know about the community of the day is no longer happening but still no mention of where you are. This time I notice, ‘where is Lori?’ I’m thinking to myself. The new website doesn’t list the personalities so now I’m really curious.

On Wednesday I’m googling for you and find your website. I am so sorry you’re not returning back. Your website is great by the way, you did a fine job raising your son. The circle of life, I like that bit of reflection you had. I guess as they say when one door closes another one will open. I hope to hear from you again. Boy this is worse than your April fools announcement you made. You really had me going.

Take care,

Bob

Charlie,

I was so upset to hear that you are no longer on 104.3. You were the reason that I listened to the radio station. Now that you aren't there to get me up in the morning, I won't be listening to 104.3 any longer. Now that I found your website, I will still be able to get my Charlie Tuna fix, but it won't be the same.

I have also enjoyed seeing you on the 4th of July at Warner Center Park. I hope that doesn't change and you will be there next year.

I wish you the best and hope to hear you soon on the airwaves. The radio just isn't the same without you.

I wasn’t pleased to hear the news of the immediate change!

I have been listening to your morning show on my am commute for as long as I can remember. I’ve always enjoyed your friendly voice, candor, maturity and comedy. It was a great way to start each morning. Hopefully this change wasn’t a knee-jerk reaction instituted by some 22 year old executive whiz that thinks everyone wants to hear Ashlee Simpson… I think we were drug down that road before.

I hope that the changes ultimately work out to be a good one for you; the best of luck to you, my friend. I hope to hear you on the radio again soon… I will follow.

Hi Charlie! I’ve been listening to you every morning for the past seven years since my family and I migrated here in the United States. We’re from the Philippines. I have never listened to anybody else. Even my son grew up with you. We will both listen to you on the way to daycare and the school in the morning when I drop him off. And then, I didn’t hear your voice and it felt really weird. I feel like something is missing on my day. I am really sad that you’re not there anymore for us to listen to. It just doesn’t feel right… Anyways, I wish you all the best and I do hope that I will get to listen to your lovely voice again someday soon.. God bless you Charlie Tuna.
