I Miss You
Received: 11/18/2007 @ 4:35pm PST
From: Angela DiMascio
Hi Charlie,
I can't find a radio show in the morning to replace your show. You brought so much fun to my mornings.
I have listened to you since the 70's, but I particularly enjoyed the last 7 years on KBIG. I thank you for all the smiles you brought to my face, and for inspiring me and all your listeners to be positive and caring individuals. I will be checking your web site to find out when and where you will return to morning radio. We need you!!
A faithful listener, Angela

Charlie,
Just wanted to tell you that I really liked your show and hearing your voice during my morning commute. Gonna miss hearing you and especially the Tunathon that you held for the LA Children's hospital.
Good luck and I know you'll be back someday on the air. Look at Rick Dees, he's back and it appears that he own's the station too!

missing you....

From: Carmen Terhes
Hello Charlie,
I've been in USA for a few years now and you are one of the people I admired the most. Being from Europe I could barely understand English, but your great spirit made me laugh, because "laughs" are easy to understand, no matter what language you speak.
You made me feel welcome, and along with that I start enjoying the country more and more....Your radio show made a difference in my life and made me laugh when I was sad and missed my country.
Thank you for all your hard work, for your dedication. I hope to hear you on the radio ASAP.
Best wishes and God Bless you and your family,
Carmen (originally from Romania)

Tuna's out of the water!
Received: 11/17/2007 @ 10:45am PST
From: Tony Christina
Greetings, Charlie
Yes, the Tuna's out of the water. That's just not right! I guess by now you know you're missed. There truly is a void on my radio as I push the button normally reserved for listening to you and all I get is that droll "adult rock" music. I can appreciate the quote you offered about character being the only thing that endures. That's why I know you will return. Let's see, we saw the sudden "demise" of Rick Dees, Shawn Parr, and now you. Each of the others has now returned to radio. I have no doubt that you, too, will be back.
Good luck to you as we await your return.

Missing You!

Dearest Charlie~
This is my 2nd email. Just wanted to let you know I love Irma but couldn't hang with the new format on the morning show or the change in the music during the day and had to switch stations. My mornings are just not the same as I'm sure is the same for many of your listeners and fans. I don't know if the audience realizes how much we count on our radio personalities to get us through our work days until you are no longer there. My co-workers are just as bummed as I am. All this week we have been surfing the radio waves trying to find a station to listen to. Just wanted to let you know how much you are missed and how your not being on the station has made so many of your fans unhappy. Maybe if other listeners change stations as well, the "big shots" will wake up and realize what a huge mistake they made!
Most Sincerely,
Caryn Miller

Where's My TUNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Received: 11/16/2007 @ 6:48pm PST
From: Teri Hardina
Hey there Charlie,
You are the MAN! and now you're gone? I am a boomer and have followed you since KHJ. You have always had it going on with your listeners.
You are totally for real, you have never resorted to the usual slur of slamming people or being an ass, like a lot of what is out there now.
I have had my dial set to wake up to you for years and now I play my CD's in my house, car, and the office, for real! I tried KBig for about 2 week's after you went silent and your replacement is a joke.
Poor Irma, anyone that has any recordings of Irma laughing with you has got to know if they're listening, she isn't being true to herself, that laugh isn't Irma enjoying her side kick, that's Irma, keeping her job!
You two had spontaneity and rhyme, this guy and his baby/wife/dog conversations repeatedly each morning are insatiable not to mention his tonality would be better making those horrible car commercials that you can't get to fast enough to turn off!
I am sorry to sound rude but honestly, getting ready for work hearing all your interesting topics and your up to the minute weather/traffic/time, truly kept us all on a tight schedule, and you also had the best sponsors and guests.
Where's Purina, the Psychic network, MAC, the huge movie stars, musical talent, the cure's for a cause etc., that came with Charlie Tuna? Even the sponsors they have now are a step down from anything I would buy.
No wonder so many are signing on to Sirius Radio. If you don't give us what we need and want, we will find it somewhere else!
Missing you BIG GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lamentations
Received: 11/16/2007 @ 4:14pm PST
From: Eric Zuniga
Dear Charlie,
I have lived in Chicago, San Francisco, and now in the Inland Empire, but never have I heard a radio personality quite like yourself. In an era with shock jocks abounding like Mancow and Howard Stern, it's so hard to find a) a radio personality WITH a personality and b) a radio personality with CLASS. I don't get all LA radio stations where I live, however, I know that you are at the top of my list top 10, top 5 or otherwise (even Spanish speaking haha). Granted ClearChannel didn't fire you, however, taking you off the air is equivalent to breaking Michael Jordan's legs when he's at the top of his game.
Why not start your own radio webcast. Ever since i discovered you on KBIG in January (drawn in by your ever-curious air name TUNA), I have listened to every single podcast sent through iTunes (even put up a review under chicknfood). I will continue to "click-in" to your website, anxiously awaiting the time when you will again grace our ears and hearts on the waves again.
Signing off,

Hello Charlie!!!
Received: 11/16/2007 @ 3:07pm PST
From: Evie Irith
Dear Charlie,
When you told us on April 1st that it was your last day on KBIG104, I just KNEW it wasn’t true, but somehow I was still worried that maybe it “might” be true. What a relief and joy it was to find out the next day you were still there!!!
Then your last day on the air, that same “panic feeling” felt like a Déjà Vu, but this time there was not much hope, since you made it very clear it that this was not a joke! I was really sad that day.
Although I’ve never had the privilege to meet you in person, I’ve been listening to you and waking up to the sound of your voice for the past 7 or 8 years. You’ve been a part of my family, may daily morning routine and comfort. Not being able to hear your voice has made me feel sad and disoriented.. (when I woke up the day after you went off, I was wondering if it was Sunday) You’re a kind, funny, entertaining, extremely generous, and amazing gentleman! You were (are!) really a pleasure to listen to. I’ve never raved so much about a radio station as I have about KBIG104. I’d like to thank you and KBIG104 for having given your listeners a heads-up that it was your last day. I think it was such a nice thing (and the right thing) to do in respect for your loyal listeners. I have previously experienced a switch-over from one radio station to another (e.g. 93.1 FM), and I didn’t appreciate it that from one day to the next, I was listening to a different station without any notice from the previous station. I felt that was really a lousy way for a radio station who had so many loyal listeners to just disappear without a word of thanks or good-bye. So again, Charlie, thank you for having taken the time to inform your listeners (and keep us informed on your website). I really appreciate this!!!
I wish you best of luck in your next endeavor, and will follow you wherever you go.
Best Wishes to you!!!!
Sending a big hug your way,
Evie

Your show at the oldies radio stations
Received: 11/16/2007 @ 2:28pm PST
From: CHARLES MARSINO
Charlie,
I listened to you when you were on the oldies radio staions. I believe you were on Kearth and 93.1. and I think KIK FM. After that when you left I more or less lost interest in those commercialized stations. I tried mark and brian for almost 10 years. most stations repeat all their songs. When I called they didn't even have the song or cd/record
As of 2 and a half years ago I went to satellite radio and there are no commercials on the radio channels that play all music, they say a little about the next song but no commercials. Barry Williams from the Brady Bunch does a show for the 70's and does a good job. Have you ever thought about a show on satellite? You wouldn't have bosses tell you that they want to change formats every couple of years due to listeners ratings. So I do wish you the best of luck and I do hope to hear you again just in case I happen to be listening and catch you on air. I will keep checking your website so I will know where you are going to be. You are still one of the best DJs I have heard on the stations I used to listen to. Very easy to enjoy.

Hi Charlie,
I was disappointed to hear that you are not going to host the morning show any more...I started listening to your show last winter when 103.5 started playing their X-mas songs which I could not stand, I was told that your station doesn't play these songs and they were right, ever since than I have been listing to your morning show and had a great time........I was sad and hope that you will go on to another station so I will follow.
Thank you for making my time a great one

I was truly sad to hear that the radio station was changing. I started listening about 2 years ago and really enjoyed the music being played. Friends and family made fun of me for listening to the “old” music which is what I enjoy. You and the entire morning show made the morning drive to work enjoyable and the afternoon guys did a great job as well. Anyways, as the radio station changed so have I. I and several people do not enjoy the music they are playing so we moved to Movin 93.9 since they play what we like. Is there a way to contact the management at Clear Channel to vent our dis-satisfaction ??
Looking forward to hearing you back on the air soon.

You are missed
Received: 11/15/2007 @ 7:21pm PST
From: ART ARIAGA
Charlie,
I'm sure many of your fans have told you how much your missed. KBIG is just not the same since you were taken off the air. It's a shame what happens to great legends like yourself and that other recent legend who is now back on the air. Although I'm not on the air, I was also removed from a high ranking position which is really demoralizing. I felt as though someone came and stripped me of my stripes, power, and dignity.
I sometimes tune in to listen to KBIG just to hear Irma and hoping I'd hear your voice but it doesn't happen.
Well I'm not sure what you're up to now, but I wish you well and know you'll continue to be successful.
Thanks for the good times, really enjoyed your sincerity, and unique way of communicating with your listeners.

Charlie,
I have been out of town and came back to the new station format and about fell out of my office chair. I’m so disappointed with this new format. What the owners are thinking is beyond me. I loved your show and I love the old radio station…I loved Boogie Nights….and all the music and mixes at night. I’m 38 and grew up with most of that music and your program and radio station was the one station that made me feel like I was a kid again. It was so nice to listen to your program everyday…You will be sadly missed. I’ve already removed the new program and station off of my car stereo and my work radio. This is such a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. The new radio station is horrible….it just doesn’t compare. Your program and the old radio station stood out above the rest. I wish you all the luck in the world and keep us posted where ever you end up.
Best wishes!

Miss You on the Radio
Received: 11/14/2007 @ 7:14pm PST
From: Olga Hoites
Hi Charlie,
Was so disappointed to find out you are not on the radio any longer. I have been listening to your radio shows off and on since your were on KHJ. I am a baby boomer and did not listen to KBIG all the time...mostly, I listened to KOST 103.5 because I prefer 'soft rock' music. Lately, however, I have noticed that the variety is not what it used to be on the KOST and found myself switching to KBIG whenever they played a song I didn't like.
They seem to have these "sudden" staff changes quite often in radio. I remember years ago I used to listen to you every morning on my commute to work & especially looked forward to your "telephone poll". Then suddenly, one day you were gone and so was the station (can't remember the call letters). I was so upset, but was later glad to hear you were still around in radio. Dejavu!
Anyway, love your voice, your wit and humor...you are the most entertaining disk jockey I'ver ever heard. Please keep me posted as to where you will be broadcasting again. I'm sure you will be on the airwaves soon.
Good luck and best wishes....hope to hear from you soon - either by email or on the radio!

And I know you will be back, I have been listening to you since 1970 ,(except when you were at the country and western station in orange county, I could not get that station where I live) I know that you love radio too much to retire so I know that you will be back so I will check in on your website from time to time, but please email when you get another job.
Good luck Charlie and I hope to hear you back on the radio very soon.

I'm really upset that you are gone. You were the first thing in the am that I woke up to. I loved the bantering that you did with erma and the others. I had my alarm set to you to wake me up and I would listen to you while I got ready for work and while getting to work and at work.. Its not the same anymore. I switched radio stations until I find where you have gone. The radio station is so dull now in the am. I miss you guys.

Hi Charlie, we really miss you every morning. I've heard change is good (maybe not all the time), not trying to be mean but when I turn on the radio to KBIG it's not the same, the music is different, I listen for a while then I change the station. I loved this station mostly because of all the music from the 70's and 80's.
I wish you the best, and please keep us posted.

Tuna Fix

From: Don and Debra Manigold
Hi Charlie:
I'm sure you have gotten dozens of emails past couple of days about this. We were flippling through the Directv channels the other night and my husband yells out "Hey, Rollercoaster is on!" Naturally, we had to watch it just so we could see you, hear your voice again and have a good laugh! Do you have the blue leisure suit hermetically sealed? I hope it's in the Smithsonian next to Archie Bunker's chair.
We do miss you. I haven't really found a station that I want to "stick" with. I don't like Ryan (I get too much of him during AI) or Rick (have never liked his show), and Mark and Kim are just way too politically correct for my tastes . I hope your negotiations are going better than the negotiations between the writers and producers.
Just wanted you to know, we have not forgotten about you. I check your web page every day.

What happened?

Mr.Tuna,
I'm 47 years old, I've been listening to you from your KHJ days along with "The Real Don Steele".
Back in the eighties, we worked together at a hotel in Westchester for the promotional movie "For Your Eyes Only' with another guest "Robin Young" I have a picture in storage of you and I on stage. I was spinning records (you remember records) and you were introducing the artist. I remember you being not only a professional, but a nice person as well. When I dig this picture up, I"d like for you to sign it.
I did some radio work myself off and on as a sub late at night for a couple of oldie stations back in the eighties when someone was out sick. As well as their oldies concerts. Did some freelance DJ work with some promotional companies. Had a little following myself. I was invited as a local celebrity to certain charity events.
Back in October of 2005 I had a stroke, and at one of my post doctor visits, I was in the examining room, one of the nurses came in and asked me if I'm the same Dan Corral who was on KRLA for about a month late at night. I explained to her "yes, I was just a sub and was their until the real professional returned from his medical leave". She asked if I had an autographed picture for her on my next visit. This hasn't happen to me in over twenty plus years. I was telling my wife what had happened and "How fun were those times".
Please keep my email address on hand to let me know when you return back on the air.
Sorry for the "memory lane" letter, and thanks for your time.

Hi Charlie,
I have very mixed emotions, first I wanted to never listen to KBIG again, get the promotion department and radio heads fired! But would that really get you back on the air any sooner? You are truly a kind and professional person, that I can’t believe they could do this to you, but as you have said on your web-site, good things will be coming in the near future. Just wanted you to know that we the radio listeners, are out here and CAN’T WAIT for your return.
Just think of us when you get down and remember CHARLIE TUNA FOREVER! Maybe you should do a quest spot on NBC’s Heroes, because you are already one to us!
Thanks for all the wonderful years,
Looking forward to your next adventure,
Love,
