Charlie,

it was a complete shock to me that KBIG is gone. i miss hearing your voice in the morning as it really made a difference in my day. i was motivated and ready to go with a positive outlook on the whole day. all the ideas discussed by you were accepted and you kept a positive attitude about everything. i feel like you became my friend and that should i ever meet you in person, you'd greet me just as warmly as every other person that encounters you.

thank you for being my wonderful wake-up call. i hope to hear you on the air again soon. actually, i KNOW i'll hear you on the radio soon so i look forward to your email telling me when and where. mwah!

take care,

Darien DeVries

I only started listening to you a year ago during the fund raiser for Children’s of LA, but every since then I have enjoyed you and Irma in the mornings. I will check your website to find out where I can listen to you in the NEAR future.

Thanks for the funny mornings (and Informative) mornings.

Dear Charlie --

I have never written or called any radio personality, but I have been listening to you over the years over the many stations, and it always brought a smile to my face to hear you in whatever city I had moved to!

In any case, I am sad to not be hearing your voice in the mornings.

I do want to say that putting your sales team on the air and encouraging them to say their names was a class act in every sense of the word. As an assistant to the well-known, it is always nice to have someone say thank you, but for the parents and friends of those people, I can assure you that you made their day and even their year! It was a completely selfless act, and you are a gem!

Good luck to you in whatever your next venture is, and I will be turning the dial until I hear your welcoming voice again.

With my best,

Beth

Hi Charlie!

Needless to say I was shocked to hear that you were not going to be on and that Clear Channel changed their format.

Without you there I see no point in listening to this station. I listened to you on my way to work and really enjoyed all the people you had on and basically your whole format.

Now it's boring!!!!! I try once in awhile in the car to go to that station but it's also playing music I don't care for. I think they are going to lose a lot of listeners and I don't know what they were thinking. I bet you'll be back sooner than you think. I hope so anyway.

Please keep me posted with what you're doing (if you'll be going to another station).

Thanks for all the years of enjoyment I've had listening to you!!!

Sincerely,

Mary McNeely

Hi Charlie!

Like most people I have enjoyed listening to you in the mornings on KBIG (including on my shower radio). I've enjoyed your talking to us in radioland as well hearing your interviews with celebrities.

Hopefully, we'll hear from you soon on the radio waves.

Hi Charlie,

I MISS YOUR VOICE IN THE MORNING! You woke me up every morning, now that you are no longer with KBIG I feel sad in the morning not hearing you. Hearing you laugh every morning makes me feel good and I can start my day. Please let me and all loyal listeners know where you are so that we all can listen to you again. I can’t wait to hear you again on the radio.

Hi Charlie,

I still miss listening to you so much. I used to listen to you for several hours every morning. I listened to you and KBIG for years. I don't listen to KBIG any more at all. I don't understand why they made the change they did. I keep trying different radio stations and different morning radio shows and can't find anything that I enjoy as much as I enjoyed yours. You are a true professional. You are smart, funny, and positive. I am still sad things changed. My mornings just haven't been the same without you. Hopefully things are going really well for you. I hope I will get to hear you on the radio again soon.

Take Care,

Hi, Charlie. Just wanted to say again how much you're missed. The new guy (the ex-KISS afternooner) is insipid, as is the music the station is playing. I'm going to start looking around for a new station. My friend Liz said to tell you that she hasn't listened to KBIG since you were let go, and doesn't intend to ever listen again. Also, the new afternoon guy sounds like Richard Simmons on helium. Very annoying voice. Ah well, it was the company's choice - WRONG ONE - but theirs to live with. Keep in touch and let me know what's going on with you and where you'll be landing.

My mornings are not the same now that you are sharing my morning ride to work. I take the Red Line but I never got on until I heard you give the Community of the Day. I was one of the folks who emailed you to repeat the Community because a dog barked and I missed it. Another time, I got locked out of my apartment and I had to break in and the first thing I did was call the station to find out what the community was.

I am glad that Irma is still in the morning even if all she is doing is reading news. I loved reading the chisma on the web site. Give her my best. I miss the whole morning team. Last night I wore my Pink KBIG T-Shirt to my bowling league at Pickwick. Everyone was commenting on how they loved KBIG as it was. I miss the afternoon work out and Joe Vinyl in the evening.

I have been listening to you since you were at KHJ. I use to dance on Boss City. I remember the Teenage Fairs at the Hollywood. I still have my Tina Delgado is Alive button.

Please let us know what you will be doing next.

Hi Charlie,

I have never called, emailed, written or communicated in any way with any radio station before today. How true it is that I took your radio show for granted every morning on my way to work. As you can tell I serve as a school principal in Hollywood and my day would always start by turning on the radio to listen to you. I had my routine set by you…to the last minute. I knew the time by your show. I have tried to tune in to other stations, but you are truly irreplaceable. I hate this change!!!!! I hope the plan is not to put you behind a desk. Take care and thank you for all of the mornings that you got me off to a great start. My poor staff and students are going to have to adjust to Katy without Charlie Tuna…boohoo.

Charlie,
I was just reading your entries for the last couple of days and I wanted to say that I feel your loss – not being able to do what you’ve done these last 7 years – work, plan and reach people like me through the radio. Change isn’t always easy to adjust to but there is always a reason the universe places challenges in front of us. Without sounding like some old sage but someone who has learnt from experience … out of the ashes of the old new hidden blessings will come even though you don’t see them right now. There are many people whose lives you have touched and didn’t even know it. I am one of them – I have been in recovery for a year from a long term illness of major depression after the loss of a loved one. Turning on the radio in the mornings - listening to you – with your humor, care, energy helped me through those days that I just couldn’t break through but had to for my own growth and success to beat my illness. By the way I am doing well and found a life of hope, acceptance of my condition and how I can best manage it without it managing me. Thank you for bringing guests on your show who had an understanding of my illness. It is so hard to educate and bring awareness to mental illnesses and I appreciate you so much for what you have done to make the general public aware not just for mental illness but for giving to others – the children at the hospital… Again I wish your family and yourself all the best – all of whom are in my thoughts and prayers. May the universe bless you with prosperity!

Kindest regards

I really hope to hear you back on the air, soon. It’s just not the same LA without you.

As everyone else, sad to hear the news that you are no longer on air at KBIG. BIGger things are in store for you, I am sure. In the meantime, when you start to feel sad, just click on any one of your 1,000's of emails-you are loved and missed.

Weird and sad not listening to you in the AM. Will also miss the "Charlie Tun-a-thon." What great work you did!!!!!!

Will be checking your web site 'til you are back on the air. :)

Take care, hang in there, people love you.

Hi Charlie,

Like so many have said, I have never written to a Radio Celebrity before…and believe me when I say, YOU ARE A CELEBRITY! Everybody knows your name!! And they should; you have been around for… let’s just say… a long while. Anyway, I thought I would give the station a listen even without you on it, but I really don’t like the changes they’ve made, and I’m not sure how long I can continue. And the DISCO is gone!! (I really do so-o-o-o love that music!!) Also, the DJ that replaced you, well… he just can’t replace you!! NOBODY can do that!! Charlie, you are definitely ONE OF A KIND!! I mean that from the bottom of my heart!! I know that I also speak for a lot of KBIG listeners!! The sincerity and integrity of the show has been lost without on it!!! I will continue to mourn until your return!! When you do get back behind the “mike” or whatever path you choose, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me (us loyal listeners) know!!! You’re ONE of the BEST in the business!!!

A very loyal but sad listener,

JoJo

My husband and I enjoy listening to you so much that since you have left the air, we've stopped listening to 104.3. We really enjoyed listening to you while commuting to work. It makes the horrible morning commute to downtown LA a breeze.

Please let us know where you will be next time and we're sure to follow you.

Take care.

Hello Charlie,

I have been a listener for many years. It is extremely sad that you are no longer on the air. I miss listening to you involving me in the conversations about daily happenings and just life in general. I have changed the station now when I wake up. I want to wait that extra 5 minutes to hear what you had on the latest gossip (even thought it meant me being late on getting out the door) I want to laugh, cry and enjoy what was your acting studio. I miss all that. Listening to you brought joy to my heart, something that can not be replaced by music alone.
Charlie, I used to wake up in the morning, sit in bed for a while and just listen to you chat and laugh. I felt like I was right there in the studio with you having the conversations (I would even talk back to the radio and give my opinion). It was good, it was innocent (not like all this other vulgarity on air) it was above all entertaining. I guess propaganda and money are the true winners in all these radio war fares, with the DJ being the casualty of war. I am upset that they have for now silenced your voice from the airwaves. I am happy that you still have a job, but your career is letting your voice and words be heard. You are too special a person to not be on air. I wish you all the best in your new position. I will miss your stories of your wonderful cats, your kind heart and professionalism. I will really miss the a.m. radio time with you all. I will no longer be listening to what is formerly KBIG. I must go out and search for a new station that fits my personality. Please inform me if you ever come back on air. Wow… Lori got out just in time… I guess I also feel like I have lost a little bit of my family because I used to listen from 5:30 am to about 8:30pm. Hope all is well and hope you can respond to my e-mail. Nothing but best regards to you and the rest of the dying breed. Please don’t think of me as a Looney tune with no life. I have a wonderful family and busy life. Listening in the morning and at work just made my day go better. I went home after work in a great mood, even though my work load was heavy. When I feel passionate about something, I must say what I feel. As I just have.

Sincerely,
Debbie Cruz

Charlie,

Like many others KBIG listeners, we're shocked by the news. We really miss you on 104.3. We're still expecting to hear your voice on 104.3. I've felt this really sad and couldn't believe it when I heard you announced it's your last day (I thought I was in a dream). This strange and sad feeling is the same feeling I felt when I heard about the Columbine killing several years ago.

You've a great voice (a warm and sincere voice) for Radio. I'm sure other Radio stations would love to have you on their show. You're one of the few broadcasters that have class and character.

Best wishes to you and your family. Good things always come to good people. Please take care.

Tracy Tong.

I am so sorry to hear that this happened. I have listened to KBig for so many years and your voice is as familiar to me as my husband's. You are entertaining and a good, honest man. I am so sorry and hope that something comes up rather quickly for you. You deserve to be on air, not behind a desk somewhere. Best of luck to you and your family. I am not so sure I want to be a loyal KBig fan anymore, as they aren't too loyal to their long time employees.

I sincerely hope for the best for you. Keep your head up high and stay positive.

Greetings Charlie Tuna,

I guess like all the other listeners out there I was very shocked when I turned on the radio that Monday morning only to discover that it was your last day. This truly was a SAD DAY IN RADIO, I have been one of your long time listeners going way back to your KHJ days, and I will follow you anywhere.

It is not the same ….. I am not really sure what Clear Channel was thinking, but my motto is if it is not broken DON'T FIX IT!!!

Anyway God Bless you Charlie Tuna, and I cannot wait for you to turn up on another radio station, I am glad that I will be on your mass emailing list.

Take care,

As they say “Look for the seed of equivalent Benefit” it may just be the start of something greater for your future and you may have never ventured out away from your “ favorite comfortable niche” .
I wish you all the best. Can’t wait to hear what lays ahead for you…I will be checking in on your website to see.

I’m really sorry to hear you left kbig. That’s their mistake. Big mistake. I always wake up to you every morning and listen for the community of the day. And yes I do remember you on the early days. I may be 49 but I do remember you.
Just thought I would give you a note of thanks for everything you do and will do.

Dear Charlie,

Every morning you made my drive to work and taking the kids to school easier. My kids were able to sing the song you would play about the Tuna man. I was so sad to hear you leave I called out from work because I could not bear the news. You are an inspiration to young children and I appreciate that from you. Please add my email to your list so I can keep in touch with you. I stopped listening to KBIG because it changed. You, Irma and all the other DJ’s made KBIG, now I don’t turn the radio on. Charlie,

It was Sept 27 when I found out that you were no longer with KBIG. I had been on vacation out of the country and when I returned was confused when I turned on KBIG and did not hear your voice. And no one was mentioning that maybe you had taken a day off.

You have been my favorite DJ for years and I would listen to whatever station you were on. (I think it is close to 40years??, wow I can't even believe it!) Then the first day you came to KBIG I was so happy and excited. I even called you that morning and said that BRINGING YOU TO KBIG WAS THE BEST THING KBIG EVER DID!!.

Well, I don't know what happened, but if kbig let you go because they wanted a change, kbig made a very big mistake. Charlie, I know so many people that are not listening to kbig anymore and only because you are not there. You helped us get ready in the morning and drove along with us to work. We enjoy listening to your conversations with listeners and celebrities alike. You are entertaining and always make us laugh. You always have us starting the day on an up-beat!

Let us know where you'll be. Really looking forward to hearing your voice over the air again!!!

Sincerely,
Lorraine
