Charlie,

Thank you so much for the email update. I am really looking forward to hearing you on the radio soon. I’m just so sad that today is your last LAST day with Clear Channel.

May God bless you this upcoming year with a new radio job. I’ll be there waiting to listen to you!

Being Patient!

Dear Charlie,

It is two hours and 20 minutes away from midnight. I want to wish you a Happy New Year. I hope you are having a good time. I am home with my husband. I can’t wait to hear you on air again. You’re the best. I have not been listening to the radio like I used to because it just isn’t the same. I have been working on my website and teaching myself how to do news letters today. Tomorrow I plan to work on my book and finish what I did not on my web.

I want you to know the phrase you put in one of your newsletters “Good things happen to the ones that are patient” taught me a lot. I took it as, don’t rush things, but also don’t be lazy! Stay positive

With all my best,

Jennifer Strigle

Hi Charlie,

I hope that things will be better for you this coming year.

Since you were taken off of KBIG and the format was changed, I (and also my carpool partner) have stopped listening to KBIG, as you were the reason we listened to KBIG. I had listened to KBIG for about 10 years prior to that - back when Rick Diego was the morning Dj.

Take care and let me know when you have a new station.

Robert

Just wanted to compliment you on your site!

Hi Charlie,

I was checking out Radio Daily News.com this afternoon and ran across the link to your site. Very nicely done! I especially enjoyed the interview with Wolfman Jack that you posted. I bought his book just prior to his passing. Seems that every displaced radio guy is migrating to the internet, and that is a good thing.

My name is Tony Clark, and had done radio for years in Michigan. These days, I produce and host a show called The Michigan Oldies Podcast...The Greatest Oldies You'll Never Hear On The Radio . We play the oldies that were popular here on the local charts, but somehow were filtered out of regular station airplay over the years, and that included a lot of Michigan-based product, including old Motown and Fortune records stuff. So far, we have been doubling audience monthly since first going online with it in September, with close to 28,000 accesses to our show for December

We also reminisce about the top 40 stations that were staples in Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Grand Rapids & Lansing. You may not realize it, but you were a part of Michigan radio. Sometime in the 70s, WVIC in Lansing had YOU as their midday host. I remember hearing you when driving to high school. It wasn't until after I got into the business that I realized that you may have possibly been the worlds first "voice-tracked" DJ, as someone formerly with WVIC told me that you pre-recorded your drops and syndicated them somehow to the station.

If you'd like to cut an mp3 blurb (and you can ham up on us if you'd like), I'd be honored to play it in our show. Nothing much, just a short liner, referencing when you were on WVIC and that you're listening to the Michigan Oldies Podcast. It's 100 percent totally voluntary, and I'll understand if you aren't able to do it.

Anyway, just wanted to drop you a note regarding your website and your work. Have a great New Year, and continued success with your career.

Best Regards,

Tony Clark

Happy New Year Charlie. It is great to hear that you may be coming back on the air soon. I love listening to your bright, cheery voice while I'm getting ready for work in the morning. I no longer listen to 104.3, primarily because I can't stand the music they now play. It put's me right back to sleep and it all sounds the same. I don't know who they're target audience is, but "it ain't me babe!" I switch around looking for some specific station to listen to, but so far nothing has stuck. Can't wait for you to be back on the air....hurry!

WHAT A LOSS!!

Good morning Charlie Tuna,

I just wanted to say that I am truly at a loss without hearing you in the morning. Since I compromise with kids in the morning and don't get to hear my station everyday, I was shocked when I realized you were no longer on air. I truly feel this was a great mistake for the station and a misfortune for the listeners. Not that I am bitter, BUT... that is one more station I won't listen to. I look forward to hearing your wonderful personality at a new station. Best wishes. Gina

I missed your last show on 104.3. At first I thought I had the wrong radio station. The morning is not as fun without you on the air. At 47, I am in the group your radio station is trying to reach. This change has me looking for another radio show to wake up to. I wish you the best in finding a new show to call your own. Let me know where you land. I hope it is a morning show. That is the only time I have to listen.

with the best of wishes,

-Violet-

Dear Charlie,

I was out of town for Christmas, but was thinking of sending you a cheery e-mail containing how MUCH I MISS YOU and how I dearly pray you'll be back to greet me each morning of the New Year. I hope you'll consider country music as a new venue for your talents. Many of us oldie-but-goodie fans have found a refreshing version of heart string pulls and familiar sad, loving, boogie sounds in that of country.

Wherever you go, I intend to follow.

Hugs and Luv,

I would like to take this time to thank you for always being there on the morning radio. It made my drive to work more pleasant and enjoyable. Thank you so much. I also would like to take this time to also thank you for your many Tuna telethons. It meant a lot to me especially this year because Children's hospital help save my cousins daughter. Her mother Margarita was on your show speaking on behalf of her daughter Jade. I was so happy to hear that you raised a lot of money for that well deserving hospital. Thank you so much your your efforts to bring happiness to many families who needs the services provided by that hospital. I hope that KBIG will continue that wonderful tradition. Once again, thank you, and I hope to hear your voice again on the radio. God bless you and your loved ones.

in limbo

Charlie,

Here's another one...

I hope 104.3 knew what they were doing b/c I don't understand the format flip. You have a gazillion loyal listeners, including me. These past few months without "Charlie Tuna in the Morning" have left me feeling down and in a state of limbo! Very unsettling...the world is not right. I see on your website (thank your son, please) that I am not alone!! I've been flipping channels.... asking my friends who they listen to...popping CD's ....there will be no peace in my morning routine until you are back on the air. I have to add that in the 80's I lived in Bonn, Germany. I listened to you on the armed forces airwaves. Hearing your voice over there was a comforting bit of home, just as satisfying as apple pie or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I listened to you before I moved to Germany and after I moved back to So. Cal.

You are such an extraordinary radio personality that everyone else pales in comparision. You're unsurpassed when it comes to integrity, a clean sense of humor, respect, a role model, interesting interviews, clever bits like Actor's Studio and trivia, support of special causes, and conveying a genuine interest in your callers.

Please add me to your list of people to notify when you grace the airwaves again...I know you say to be patient, but IT'S DIFFICULT. (btw, you had me for a whole weekend on that April Fools bit that Friday not so long ago when you said you'd decided to retire, can't believe I fell for it.)

A loyal fan,
Becky McFarland, Third Grade Teacher, Brea, CA

thank goodness for the internet!

I was an avid listener of yours while you were on klac 570 w/Fran Tunno. I was wondering if you were ever going to release full recordings of your conversations w/Karen Carpenter? I know you spoke to her on her birthday every year, and she actually came in to your studio once for an interview by herself. P.S. by the way what ever happened to Fran Tunno? You two were magic when you were together. I really miss it. are you on Sirius Satellite at this time? NOTE TO JERRY COOPER: First, no I'm not on Sirius Satellite, although people have told me they've heard some radio station shows of mine from the 60's and 70's on XM Satellite at times. Fran Tunno is very active in voiceover work and books on tape, I just spoke to her the other day. And you can actually hear and see a 10 minute YouTube Tribute to Karen Carpenter that used the audio from my KLAC show on a special 50th birthdate anniversary show I did to Karen's memory. Check it out below.

Hi Charlie,

My days start out slow now. I can't find anything good to listen to on the radio anymore since they took the real KBig of the air. I hope Clear Channel will wake up someday and put you guys back on the air with the same format. I am sure it would make a lot of people very happy. KBig had the best people on the air. Charlie in the morning to get going to and Christian at night to stay awake with for the late nights. it was so good.

Take care Charlie, I hope to here you back on soon. it's like my coffee pot is broken. There's nothing to get me moving in the morning...

Hi Charlie, I have been a K-Big Listener for years. My work commute from La Puente to Woodland Hills round trip is about 5 hours a day. With Traffic, KBIG was the only thing that made me smile while I was stuck in traffic day after day. I loved the Music, you & Irma. The music was great it gave you a chance to travel back in time where maybe life was less complicated & all about enjoying life. My husband & I always looked forward to Disco Fever.. I was only able to make it to the last 2 but was looking forward to many more of them. This new station sucks! Plays the same boring music that does not make you want to shake your booty or even smile, its the same boring stuff all others station play. You & K-Big will always be one of a kind, UNIQUE! I will truly miss you every morning. You did change my life!

Thank You for the Memories!

i am sure you have heard this a million times, but I had left the country on a military assignment and got recently and as always, turn you on to get the community of the day, and find you and most of your crew are gone, wow. Are you going to go to another radio station where i can listen to you? If not, let me say as many have I am sure said to you already, thanks for the great joy you have brought to me as i travel up & down the coast of California in the early hours of each weekday morning and on several occasions I was lucky enough to attend functions where you hosted us, your listeners to great shows at different venues. Thanks for all those memories.

Hi Charlie,

I must admit, I have written to you already a few times but feel like I am writing to a friend. My morning starts with a cup of coffee and reading your website. I am so happy and grateful that you have the website and continue to keep your friends, fans, and listeners involved in your life. Although I so miss listening to your voice, I still feel such a sense of warmth when I read your daily postings. You were my commute to work each morning. I am looking forward to hearing your voice again on radio.

My husband finds it cute that I have you saved as a "favorite" and that I reread your dailies at night. I know the radio station must have great things in store for you. You are the best!

I used to love the community of the day. Since you left, those credits don't seem fun or important. Maybe people could cash in credits for you to do a "guest" spot for an hour. Think about all the credits all for you! I'd put all of mine in, no question.

Well, again, I look forward to hearing from you or at least reading your postings.

You are missed greatly.

Your friend,
Adrienne

Hello Charlie,

It's been months since you've been on the air and it's been Hell. It's just not the same, the format it not the same and it's just not good at all. I have to listen to the new show at work, if I could change the station I would....but I can't. I have to listen to ALL the new people on the show and it's just NOT the same. I really can't stand the new DJ in
the morning and also the new one in the afternoon.

Let me tell you....YOU have the best radio voice that I have ever heard and one that anyone would know is yours just by hearing it. And yes, I'm also talking about your time at KHJ.....of course I was just a young teenager back than. It's just sad that they got rid of everyone there but just a few.

I hope someone will be contacting you soon to get your voice back on the air.....we all miss you soooooooo much.

Denise

Dear Charlie,

I just wanted you to know how much you and KBIG are missed. I started listening to you on my little transistor radio- circa 60's at KHJ. You have one of the best voices and personalities on the radio!!!! Your morning interviews were exceptional- you have such a talent at making your guests comfortable. Mornings aren't the same without you and KBIG.

I wish you the best today and always. Thank you for being so nice to all your listeners. Thanks again for all the memories. I had so much fun at all the KBIG 104 DISCO FEVER CONCERTS and many other events- I'm so bummed, no more Charlie, no more KBIG.

God Bless and keep you. All the best to you Charlie - With Love and Admiration.....Darice

(like shes not comfortable w/Valentine) I wish Clear Channel would bring back KBIG I don't like the new format. Well, I at least enjoy going to your web site and reading all the comments and your news. Take care and I know you'll land someting big and better. Just let us know.

Good Morning Charlie,

I will begin by letting your know that I have listened to you for many years and feel extreme sadness that you are no longer part of KBIG. But to be perfectly honest, without you, there is simply no reason to listen to MYFM. Clear channel really has no clue as to what the loyal listeners really want. I felt the same feeling when KIIS fired Rick Dees, who is also one of my favorite DJ's. Both of you have a certainly familiarity with listeners. At least you are alive and well, and hopefully, you will once again delight us with your charming personality. I am comforted in knowing that you may return to the air soon, unlike the beloved Hal Fishman.

Warmest regards,
Yolanda Otanez

I miss having my Tuna in the morning! My mornings are just not the same any more. I find myself changing stations all morning during my commute to work. I really miss you on the air. Your sweet personality just flowed through the mike to the radio and through my speakers directly to my soul. My soul always had a smile because of you. Thanks for that. I hope I put a smile on yours when I say you're missed and not 4gotten. I hope to hear you again one day on air doing your thing. Take care and good luck in everything you do. Luv and miss ya lots!
