Clear Channel is sooooo wrong
Received: 12/27/2007 @ 9:03pm PST
From: Darce Lona

I used to switch back and forth between your show and Jamie, Jack and Stench. After 10am, I would switch over to 570 for all the Big Band music. Clear Channel sold that station off and I now listen to Brad Chambers online. Jamie, Jack & Stench have a podcast and Jack got a job in San Diego. Your show was great. All Clear Channel does is follow the big dog's butt for ideas.

Can't wait for you to get on a station that appreciates your intelligence, humor and knowledge. Keep your chin up

Hello Charlie,
I miss you Charlie, mornings never be the same, I am still sad that I didn't hear your voice any more. I'm no longer listen 104.3. When I have a moment, I took a peek to your website and read all what are you doing each day. that make me feel a little happier that I still see and hear from you. I read the emails that all the listeners send to you, I'm touched by those emails, you may not realize that you are loved by many people around, and I am one of them. Please take care and I can't wait for your return.

Toi Kiti

I adore you Charlie! I have been checking your website! Your son did great!

I haven't listened to 104.3 for more than a few seconds since your last day. I refuse.

If you do a Tunathon on your website... I will continue to be a supporter!

God bless! Love Danielle

Hi Charlie,

I've had the good fortune to meet you many times over the years, most recently while interning with Mike Sakellarides at KOST.

Charlie, you don't need my accolades but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what a class act you've consistently been in all the times we've met throughout your career.

You and Vin Scully are national treasures that L.A. radio listeners have been blessed to enjoy.

Lol, ever thought of doing an Urban format? Hip-Hop? Maybe throw in a helium tank for extra fun...

God bless you and keep on truckin'.

Andrew Schermerhorn

I miss you in the mornings. You wouldn't believe how many people stopped listening to KBIG, at least from my office. We have over 400 employyes at this one office. The new format pardon my french "SUCK'S". Thanks all the entertainment that you and your old co-workers from KBIG for giving me something to make my day easier. Ruben

As one of those directly responsible for my own fifteen year career on-the-air – you’ll remember I shared the story of your helping me forty years ago at a Home Show where you were appearing earlier this year – you are blessed with both talent and passion which provides you with an edge that many in radio simply don’t have.

My experience is there is no job security anywhere; especially in performance, radio, acting, etc. There is employment security, though: the amalgam of your reputation, your perception and your talent. That combination means Charlie Tuna works while others wait.

Few can match your employment security.

I am a long way away from radio but I miss it everyday and my inference, reading between the lines of your email, is that you do, too; even in the short weeks that you’ve been off-the-air. It is always a thrill on my trips into The Southland from my arena of competition – San Jose and the Bay Area - to tune in and listen to you work.

I am confident that you will find a place on-the-air as long as you want to be there.

It is quite the road from your first show on Boss Radio, Thanksgiving Day, 1967; from General Tire through CBS Radio and now past Clear Channel. It is beyond compliment – and must be, deep down, a tremendously satisfying feeling – that you are the one of the most recognized voices in Los Angeles. What a wonderful ride you’re on and I’m so glad to see you doing so well.

I look forward to hearing about you being back on the air by Valentines’ Day. There’s my prediction!

Here’s to a great ‘08 from the college kid on the KHJ request line, whose career you helped jumpstart 40 years ago. I am forever in your debt and will be listening from the sidelines!

Bob Ray

Dear Mr. Tuna

Clear Channel has made a huge mistake by not having CHARLIE TUNA on KBIG (or 104.3my fm) anymore. WE MISS YOU SO MUCH! You were part of our morning wake up call, breakfast, and drive to school and work. The radio is not the same without you. We really hope to hear your voice really soon again. Please keep us all updated on your next move on radio so we can all switch to wherever you will be.

With lots of love,

Christine Cojulun & Family

We always listened to you on KBIG...and heard you when you said you were leaving the station due to a change in management and format...

We are very discouraged and disappointed...

We hope you will pop up on another station soon...

Please keep me in your "address book" and let my wife and I know when and where to find you on our FM dial...

We're "baby boomers" and have been listening to you (and Rick Dees) for many, many, many years - - and you two are, by far, the best in the radio biz...

Best of Luck,

Bill Otis

I'll make this short. I dont listen to 104.3 anymore since they took you off. I think it is an age thing and I've seen it at work many times. This happens too much! I'm only 1 person but you have my support.

thanks for the update. I missed your last show and read in the paper that you were no longer on the show. The new format is not as interactive and fun as it used to be. I have switched to Mark and Kim now. I always liked that show, but since yours was better I listened to it only after 9:00 am. Can't wait to hear your voice back in the morning or at any time. I would like to know your next move please keep me on your e-mail list.

Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

Shital

P.S. Will you continue the TunaThon at Children's Hospital the next year too???

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for the update. I have really missed your great voice and comments but what are we to do. I will be listening and waiting for your next station. You were and are THE BEST. What were they thinking when they let you go? Some people can't get it right. I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2008. I'll be waiting to hear you. God Bless, Gayle

The only reason I tuned into Kbig was because of you. I was listening to another station and during a commercial I started changing stations and heard your voice. That was six years ago. I am one of those people that grew up with you on AM radio. Please let us know what you are doing so I can tune it again.

Good luck

Good Evening Charlie,

Just wanted to tell you that I miss your laughter in the morning. I've tried listening to the "new" station but I just can't get into it. I miss hearing your laugh. Your laugh just had a way of making me feel good no matter what kind of morning I was having. Thank you! Please let me know when I can turn on a radio station and hear that laugh once more.

Sincerely,

Ophelia Angulo

I've listened to you since I was a little girl when you were on 93 KHJ. Oh the good ol' days! Here's to a happy new year with YOU in it again!

I just wanted to add my 2 cents to the thousands of other listeners expressing gratitude, well wishes, and all the other emotions that have been stirred by your sudden departure from my (our) morning routine.

I was one of the first listeners to join the KBIG Community to save points. I listened to your pod casts for extra points; and the only prizes I ever redeemed my points for were the Charlie Tuna Doll and the Irma Bobblehead. .

Now I don't even open the emails "Not-"MYFM sends me. Please put me on the e-mail list so I can find you on the radio as well as my computer.

It is soo good to hear from you once again. I have been listening to you since I was a little girl. I am 30 now and I had gotten so used to waking up to your voice in the morning to go to work. When i didn't hear it anymore, my mornings are just not the same. I can't wait to see where you go next. I will be a loyal follower and change my alarm station to wake up to your voice once again. Please keep me updated.

Hey Charlie!

I'm waiting to have a new favorite radio station and a favorite radio program, let's face it; there are a lot of radio hosts but there is only one Charlie Tuna, you are able to keep the public listening without having to resort to bad words or double talk, no outrageous crap or anything like that.

Your work is just the purest expression of radio, since it is your childhood dream there is nothing you can do better, you actually do not work when you are on radio, you are just yourself and we all thank you for that.

Happy New Year Charlie! I am sure we will be listening to you quite soon! =)

Dear Charlie Tuna,

So good to know that you're still in the game. I was a little stunned at the change with K-Big ( I won't get political at this time. That's life I guess). My 50th birthday was on that last weekend (9/15/07) and having K-Big Dicso playing was a gas. I know that you're the morning person (and that's when I got to hear you) but that part of K-Big programing was also a favorite. Oh yeah, I've been following you since the KHJ days and was crushed when things changed at K-big and you were gone. Thought I "lost" you again. My wife and I have been living in Santa Barbara for almost 11 years, moving from Santa Monica, and I hope to heck that whatever station is lucky enough to get you can be picked up by me up here. Thanks for keeping in touch and I'll keep my fingers crossed for a new gig for you soon. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Best Regards, Gabor L. Dobos

Hi there! For a guy with your advanced, er, resume you look pretty young!!! I got into the business in Canada as a jock in afternoon drive in '63. I turned 65 last May but I live in (Fortaleza) Brazil, where anything is possible. Attached is a foto of my wife, Thieny, 24!

Dear Charlie,

I understand the challenge you are experiencing. Well, maybe not. When I did not have regular employment, the world was not aware of my status. It was certainly a character building time for me.

I found another station after you left and then they let co-host Kim go from her long term employment. I was really sad for her.

I still miss hearing you and I pray you have a blessed Christmas and a very prosperous new year.

Keep the faith Charlie, it will all be different one day.

Susie

I was so happy to get your note. I can't find a home on the radio in the morning and miss your show everyday. I am sure now that 2008 will be a good year as we have the hope of hearing you again on the radio.
Thank you for being someone to admire and for bringing smiles to our faces.

Have a very Merry Christmas and all the BEST in 2008!

Thanks Charile for the update on your status. I’m sure we'll all be looking forward to your return to the air waves. Not only are you a great disc jockey, you’re a very nice person. I know that because I programmed my cell phone to your KBIG station one time and then dialed the number just to see if I programmed it correctly. I was shocked when you answered and when I told you what I did, you laughed and said I had the right number. You were so pleasant and I'll never forget that.

Good Luck!
