Earthquake anniversary
Received: 02/07/2008 @ 8:10am PST
From: Pat Barker
Hi Charlie;
Just wanted to touch base with you. As the anniversary for the Feb 9th 1971 quake approached, I find myself remembering your broadcast that morning. I also remember that sometime after the quake hit, you played a song that had lyrics about "the whole place shaking away" and Arizona becoming beachfront property??? (Sorry, I don't remember much more -- must be age!!) I was kind of funny that since we had just had one heck of a shake up!! Do you remember that song?
Right now I am listening to KOST, because it is the only thing on that is basically benign (except that the DJ talks too much about absolutely nothing). I really can't wait for you to get back on the air. Good Grief what will we do when you finally get tired of us and really retire!!!!
Anyway, take care and stay safe. We, your loyal listening fans can't wait for your return!
Pat Barker
(NOTE TO PAT: The song was called "Day After Day" by Shango. It had come out just a couple of years earlier in 1969 when there was a lot of talk going on about the San Andreas Fault.)

are YOU KRTH's mystery guest DJ? The figure behind the ? on the KRTH website looks like YOU.
I'll be calling in to try to win the concert tickets...does this mean your next radio home is on 101.1fm?
Hoping that it is!

New station yet?
Received: 02/05/2008 @ 8:01pm PST
From: Arthur Wellington
Used to listen to you on AFN-Rota, Spain back in the early 90's. And up until last year, I was hearing you on the internet on the Los Angeles station you were on. Are you on a new station yet, hopefully it's one that is streaming on the internet.
Your fan,
Art

Talking with some friends at work about you and we hope you resurface somewhere soon. Listened to you for years, even when you played Country Western music. I actually met you way back when you and some station played a softball game in Lomita Park. Just wanted you to know you have a bunch of fans out here.

Did you retire?
Received: 02/05/2008 @ 1:40pm PST
From: Sherry Wilkinson
Dear Charlie, I've been listening to you on the radio since my teens, and now I'm in my mid 40's. I heard your last show last September, but don't know what you've been doing since. Did you retire or are you on another station?
I wish you a wonderful retirement if you did, and please know that you have made me laugh in the morning for decades, and you will be missed. My 13 year old son also loved "Tuna in the morning".
Best wishes,
Sherry

Loved your morning show
Received: 02/05/2008 @ 9:21am PST
From: Sandra Donaldson
I listened to KBIG for almost 4 years and loved your morning show. I switched to your station because I found that I could listen to your show with my kids in the car with me. With other stations, I had to keep turning the volume down or moving around the dial so my kids didn't hear the offensive language some of the morning show personalities use. I had hoped you and your gang would be on the air for a very long time. Sadly you were gone, and the show that replaced you became one of those shows I will not listen to with my children.
Hoping you'll be back on the air soon. By the way, I love your laugh.

Hello

Hi Charlie,
I just wanted to say hello. I have not been a long time listener and I will not pretend to know your history and the legacy that you have. My family moved to the US last Sept 2004, and I luckily found you on the radio. I am an insurance inspector and I have to go from place to place looking at homes. I am thus in the car from 7:30 in the morning to 7:00 pm. I never changed the station. I did not like setting any appointments until after 9:00, because I loved listening to your show. I was really disappointed to hear that you are no longer in KBIG, or MYFM, or whatever they call it now. I honestly tried to keep an open mind and tried to convince myself that change is good. However I can no longer lie to myself. The morning show has changed a lot. You made a mistake once listing the 10 richest fictitious characters (including Santa) while bringing my kids to school, but slips happen, I explained it to them and I think bought them another year or so of childhood innocence. Sadly that is not the case anymore. I find KBIG/MYFM talking about sex in the backseats, etc at the times I bring my kids, so now I would rather drive in silence than listen to the radio.
I never really realized how much effect the radio and its personalities have on our lives till now. In the past I often thought about calling and thanking you for just starting my day out right, but regretfully I never did. I know that a few months have past since I heard you on the radio, but I guess it is better late than never, so I would like to say THANK YOU.
I also have a small request that you let me know when you get back on air and what station you will be on. I will be your first listener.
Thank you again.
Alexander Ruiz
(NOTE TO ALEXANDER: Actually it was the newswoman on my show doing a story about the top 10 fictitious characters of all time that included Santa, and I remember saying to her with a smile that I still believed in Santa. You weren't the only one who complained that morning. Yes Virginia, there are still those who believe and I'm not gonna stop at this point in my life!)

I have listened to you for years. You're a radio legend, but you know that. Just wanted to send you a note to tell you the past 4 months has been like a part of my family is missing. You are that whether you realize it or not.
Hurry back and let us know where you'll be when you can.

You're a class entertainer!
Received: 02/03/2008 @ 10:30am PST
From: Ernie Messick
Hello Charlie T
Long time listener who has followed you from station to station because of your talent and ability to entertain with getting down and dirty like so many of your fellow djs. I hope to hear your voice on the airwaves soon again. I can't believe your old station replaced you with the show that's on there now. The guy couldn't stop talking about himself and things I didn't want to hear about on my radio, so I switched a long time ago. Am looking forward to your new station. Please let us know.
Your fan,
Ernie
