C is for......
Received: 02/10/2008 @ 11:13pm PST
From: Steve Nieto

C--Class and Charisma....being on the radio in Los Angeles for 40 years takes these.

H--Honesty....we get the real deal; nothing phony; nothing done at the expense of another to get a cheap laugh.

A--Awesome....talking up to the vocals with precise timing and yet making a joke or having something worthwhile to say to us with those few precious seconds.

L--Laughter....whether it's yours or mine, there's always plenty of laughter listening to you.

I--Intelligence....goes along with memory, knowledge and personality, but there are no M's, K's or P's in Charlie Tuna.

E--Exciting....not many DJ's make their show a particular stand-out from all the others, especially with other radio stations and I-pods etc competing for the listener's ears.

T--Terrific....to hear you again in the best environment to showcase your talents....you've still got it after all these years.

U--Unique....no, not just the name; but the man behind the voice...there's no one quite like you.

N--Nimble....whether it's country music, rock 'n roll, disco, oldies, dance, or the greatest hits on earth, you've played 'em all and made us feel like each song was one of your favorites.

A--Applause....you're getting a standing "O" for doing what you do so well.

Congratulations on your newest venture.

Welcome back.

Steve Nieto

WELCOME HOME!!!!

You have truly been missed......

Now that you're back, I will listen to the station again.

Just listening to your show yesterday, we were already hearing songs we haven't heard since you left. I have a friend who is a big fan of yours and you have been a big fan of his for many years...Dave Mason. He stopped listening to the station also...he will be very happy. Dave is going strong, he is at the Canyon Club at the end of the Month.

When you get a chance, maybe next weekend, could you please play "All along the Watchtower" by Jimmy Hendrix......Dave played the Acoustic guitar on that song when he was just 16. OR, any other Dave Mason song you want.

Thank you for being you and sharing your talents with us all and making our day MUCH BRIGHTER!

Welcome Home, Charlie!

Love You.

Dear Charlie,

I've been a big fan of yours since I first heard you on KHJ when I was a teenager! I've followed you thru many stations, KLAC being the best, with Fran Tunno. I even suffered thru K-BIG for you, and believe me, that wasn't easy! I'm so glad you're on KRTH now. They just got one more full-time listener thanks to you!

Good Luck, and Bless You!!

Charlie:

I was so happy to hear you back on the air at KRTH! I have been listening to KRTH for as long as I can remember. And being 48 years old, that's a long time. I always associate you with the fantastic music that is played on KRTH and it's just great to hear you again. KRTH and Charlie Tuna belong together.

Welcome back.

Monique

Dear Charlie,
After I got out of my dance class at 11am at Pierce College this morning I changed the station from Moving 93.9 to KEARTH 101 so I can listen to you. When I got home I listened to you over the internet. I couldn’t start working on my book in till you went off air.

With all my heart,
Jennifer Strigle

WELCOME HOME TO KRTH -- YOU'RE THE BEST!
(and I won't say I was a kid when you were on KHJ)

Charlie,

It’s about time!!! You do the Boss Radio formatics better than anyone, and should have been on KRTH for the last 15 years!

I had to work at the office today, and actually was glad for it because I listened to your show on the Internet for 4 hours and LOVED IT. You must do a lot of prep for your show, and it shows.

I remember calling you when you were doing the 9:00-noon gig on KHJ, and congratulated you on the birth of one of your children. I could tell you were a quality, stand-up guy – none of the sleaze or raunch, but just great work. You were and still are funny gut in an intelligent, witty way. You hit the posts and keep up the forward momentum of the Drake days, but with more personality. My wife and I love you, and will introduce our kids to you and to KRTH!!

Keep it up!!

Kindest regards,

Doug Abendroth

You made my day at work, but more so driving home at 12:30pm; with you playing with your new toy. (all the buttons on the control panel). I laughed all the way home. You didn't sound nervous at all.

What have you been doing for the last 5 months.

Glad you're back on K-earth.

Charlie,

It is great to have you back on the air. I miss you in the mornings but being able to listen to you on the week-end is better than not having you on the air at all. Congratulations on your new radio home.

Charlie,

I know I speak for 10's of thousands of loyal listeners in welcoming you back on the air. I stopped listening to KBIG when you left--nice folks but they weren't Charlie. Even though most of us have never met you---you are part of the family. Wish you a long stay at K-Earth--please don't retire till you are 100!

nice to have you back! Play a Christmas Carol, be the first!

Dear Charlie Tuna;

There is something great about hearing your voice on the radio again, especially playing the songs you played when I first heard you.

I don't know how many listeners you have like me, but I've been listening to you since you replaced Robert W on 93 KHJ in 196X (can you say AM radio?). Over the years I've tried to follow you around and have done so to the best of my ability. All I need now is Robert W, Humble Harv and The Real Don Steele, and I'm good. American Graffiti meets
Deja vu. Got to go find some reruns of "The Wonder Years".

A funny anecdote; Years ago (1972?) I was in bed trying to wake up, and listening to you. My Mom had the bedroom door open so she could yell "Wake UP" every so often while in the kitchen cooking breakfast (point is she could hear you too). There was a small earthquake or an aftershock and you yelled "Get up or I'll do it again!". My Mom dropped the bowl of eggs she was going to scramble due to fits of laughter.

Classic moments.

To this day I play a Christmas Carole on October 1 so I can be among the first to do so that year. I listened to you coach your kids soccer games, and the exploits of being the Mayor of Tarzana.

Remember "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road?"

Anyway, thanks for being back...nice to hear your voice. Play something you would have played in 196X for me

Sincerely

Jim Farquhar

P.S. Sorry I didn't hear about the mystery voice contest. Would have been a
slam dunk.
