CHARLIE, WELCOME TO K-EARTH
Received: 03/26/2008 @ 12:12pm PST
From: Irma Saffell
Hi Charlie,
I use to listen to you back in the 70's when I was in junior high & high school. Welcome back to radio broadcasting on my one and only radio station, that I listen to at home, work and in my car. K EARTH is great and friends at work love the music that your station plays all day. I heard you on the air, that was so cool. I listen on the weekend, it's just a shame that every time there is a call in for a question that I know, I call and call and when I finally get through, a winner has been picked, but I don't give up,
Welcome once again!
Irma Saffell

Jack Armstrong
Received: 03/25/2008 @ 10:57pm PST
From: Maverick
Thank you Charlie for mentioning the passing of Jack Armstrong. As you know, TenQ was the world to me growing up here in LA. I still have the airchecks of me as a 14 year old kid on your show, MG Kelly's, and of course Jackson Armstrong. I will cherish them and the memories.
I wanted to share a memory with you and others. In 1978, MG Kelly invited me to the TenQ studios on Western & 3rd in downtown LA. We walked into the studio where Jack Armstrong was just about to say his rapid fire goodbye. I sat there with awe and wonder and with a huge smile on my face...amazed of what I just witnessed.
Here I am now at the age of 44. I've been in radio for well...almost 30 years. And I will never forget how Armstrong and the rest of ya inspired me to do what I'm doing today.
Thank you.
Maverick

Scrabble Game Show Question
Received: 03/25/2008 @ 11:30am PST
From: Zak Baker
Dear Charlie,
Was there no live audience in the earlier seasons of Scrabble from 1984-1986? It was not shown on camera. There was an audience from 1986-1990. Please write back to me.
Sincerely,
Zak Baker
(NOTE TO ZAK: I filled in as the announcer and audience warm-up man on Scrabble in 1984 & 1985 occasionally, and then took over full-time in 1986 until the show's end in 1990, and there was always a live audience for me to work with, so it apparently was just the TV director's choice not to show the audience in the early years. They were always there.)

(NOTE TO MARTHA: I'm on KRTH 101 on the weekends. 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. Sundays, and whenever someone's on vacation or takes a sick day, I cover that shift. Just check this website daily, and I'll always give you a heads up on that, so you'll know when to listen.)
