Dashes
Received: 03/23/2008 @ 8:21pm PST
From: Phillip Jelinek
Charlie,
Would you please email me the poem you read about the dashes. My father just died at 92 and I want to read that at his funeral.
Thank you. I could not find it anywhere on the Kearth website nor your's.
And yes, I am an all access member.

From: Marci Cantrell
Charlie,
How can I get a copy of the poem you read on air about Living the Dash….the 297 word poem about making life count?
Thanks,
Marci
NOTE TO MARCI, AND PHIL (IN THE ABOVE EMAIL): Actually "The Dash" by Linda Ellis is only 239 words, but you can hear my reading of it in the "CLIPS" section today, and see it in the "NEWS" link section for Monday, March 24th!

My wish came true

Dear Charlie,
I have followed your radio career from the beginning. My heart just about broke when you left 104. I stopped listening to the station and went back to listening to k-earth all day, instead of just after you signing off the other station in the morning. I guess there is something great in 2008, YOU. You are like a security blanket to me. I don't function well without you. You have made my life complete. You are so wonderful at what you do. I now have the perfect weekend. My radio dial and time is set.
Thank you, Thank you

Hi Charlie,
What a great surprise to hear that you are back on a radio station that I enjoy. For many decades, you have accompanied me either to work in the morning or back home in the afternoon. YOU ARE ONE TERRIFIC D.J.
Welcome back to people who really care about you!

Welcome to KRTH........don't know your age, but I'll bet you may have known Dave Hull "The Hullabalooer" somewhere back then - Dave and I worked together as DJs for Armed Forces Radio in (then) French Morroco outside of Casablanca - early /mid 50s. Talked to Dave when he sat in for Robert W when he was so sick...........anyway, welcome to KRTH........when you get settled in I would kill to sit in on one of your shows.
All the best in your new situation.

One of my co-workers gave me the news that you were back! WA-HOOO! You are so loved and you were SO missed! When I heard you that last morning on KBIG, I knew someone was blowing smoke. I detest your replacement. He tried to be a cheap knock-off of you and it just didn't work. I tried to be fair, gave him about a month, but I just couldn't listen anymore! Gag! Nice to hear Irma, but you're the draw. BTW, I've been a long time listener, lo-o-ong time! I believe, before KBIG, I last heard you on September 10, 2001. Weren't you also on KHJ years ago? Or am I dating myself?
You can bet I'll be listening this Saturday morning!
Much love and huge hugs!

Long Time Listener

Welcome to K EARTH. Since Brian Bierne’s retirement I’ve missed him, and the in-depth knowledge of R&R that he brought to all of the programs he was involved with over the years. I consider you to be in the same class as Mr. Bierne, so I gladly welcome your presence at K EARTH. You are truly a legendary personality in radio and K EARTH made a wise decision bringing you aboard. You just may be the one who can bring me back from satellite radio. K EARTH still has a button reserved on my radio, but you have stiff competition from a few of my XM buttons (although even they are beginning to drift into too much “cutesy commentary” e.g., Flash Phelps). I went to XM to get away from over-talkative DJs, too many commercials, which equal less music. I look forward to listening to you and hope that you can reinvigorate what once was the greatest R&R radio station on the planet. Play music and give me some tidbits and trivia about the artists, ala Brian Bierne. Good to hear you again Charlie!!
