Hello Charlie
Received: 04/30/2008 @ 5:46pm PST
From: Hello Charlie
Hello Charlie,
It was so good to hear you this morning Charlie! (Sorry Gary was sick, but I LOVE it when you get to fill in!) I had a long drive and you got me there with a smile. I don't know what it is friend, but when I hear your voice, no matter what mood I am in, I get happy! I haven't been able to call these past couple of weekends and my weekend is just not complete without calling and telling you hello (To the guy with the voice like honey!) hee hee... and asking my silly questions. You always have the answers Charlie! I love it. Thanks for the Janis Ian answers. I hope you can find her great song, "At Seventeen" in the KRTH library. She was one of my favorites back in the 70's.
I hope to meet you soon ol' friend! One day.
Blessings,
Nancy

A Big Fan
Received: 04/30/2008 @ 8:03am PST
From: Stephen Anderson
Hey Charlie,
Growing up in Utah in the 1960s I never got to hear your work on any of the great stations at which you worked. But I regularly read Billboard magazine and read Vox Jox with avid interest. On several occasions I read about you and your work. But it wasn't until I saw the movie "Roller Coaster" at the Coral Theater in American Fork, Utah that I got to hear AND see you. As a high school student that was a real treat for me.
I'm simply writing to ask if you would be willing to send an avid fan an autographed photo? I would love to display it in my classroom (I'm an American History teacher in Riverside) and i have K-Earth on in between classes all the time.
Thanks for the laughs and for setting the standard for quality voice-over work. I don't think a lot of Americans have any idea how many times a year they hear your voice.
Sincerely,
Steve Anderson

I am a FAN forever- writing from Tampa FL
Received: 04/29/2008 @ 7:28am PST
From: Ruby Rincon Cousins
Good morning Charlie Tuna . I miss the Good Old Days and 6o's Radio (93KHJ) in L.A. My family still lives in L.A. but I had to move to FL. I would love to move back home sometime soon, my mom is in very poor health. I am writing you now because I was in L.A. in Jan. 2008. My sister who was also not only a FAN of yours ,we both met you once when she won a contest at KHJ, we went to the station to take pictures with you.- well she passed away Jan.1st. from cancer and she was only 59 years old. I miss her a lot.... I am 50 years old and I am a widow.... I want to keep in touch with you and KRTH Radio by E-mail and Web. I cannot afford a trip to CA right now, can't even afford a car, I am in dire straights but I have Faith that somehow I will be in L.A. again soon. I will continue to be an Access Member now that I found you again. I also miss Robert W Morgan and Real Don Steele (God rest their souls). So I hope you can keep in touch...this is my work email. By the way, I was listening the morning of the Earthquake back in the 70's.. classic Rare Earth music. What a morning...... I am a 60's music trivia buff as well... I LISTEN TO Q105/Mason Dixon here in Tampa, but you are the best in my book.
I hope you and your family are doing well. Just writing to you this morning has made my day...
Take care
My favorite Boss Jock
Your fan in Tampa,
Ruby Rincon Cousins

personal appearances
Received: 04/29/2008 @ 6:19am PST
From: Dave Rivelle
Hi Charlie I notice that you do a lot of your personal appearances a half hour after your radio show, how do you get to the location so quickly? do you take a helicopter or does someone drive you so you can get their on time? Keep up the good work and I hope you will get elected to the radio hall of fame.
Long time fan
Dave
Rancho Cucamonga
(NOTE TO DAVE: I do drive myself, and sometimes traffic does delay me 10 to 15 minutes, but our KRTH street team who is there with me keeps my fans entertained until I arrive, and they're always very understanding. I usually hang around an extra 10 to 15 minutes too, on those days I'm running behind on my arrival.)

"GREATER TUNA"
Received: 04/28/2008 @ 9:58pm PST
From: Michael-Anthony Nozzi
Dear Charlie Tuna,
My little Theatre Company 'BacktoE Productions has been performing the American Comedy 'Greater Tuna' all over LA and we have been selected to perform the play at the Bedlam Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland for the 2008 International Fringe Festival.
As wonderful as this sounds and we are thrilled to be going raising the Funds to get us safely there has been an uphill Struggle.
We are planning 2 performances of 'Greater Tuna' at the Westchester Playhouse on Sunday June 1st and June 8th, 2008 and we would love for you 'Charlie Tuna' to be our guest host/MC. for the 2 evenings. Having a celebrity such as yourself as our Host for our Fund raiser will surely help us fill the house and help us raise the necessary funds to get us there. We are paying for everything out of our own pockets and we need some outside angle to give us a push.
We have been getting rave reviews as i have published for you to read below.
I hope you will consider our request to be our Host.
All that is required is you showing up about 7:15 p.m. and greet everyone as they arrive then give a small welcoming speech to the audience and relay again that the performance is to raise the money to take this production to the Fringe Festival.
Sit back and watch the show if you like or leave at your leisure.
Sincerely,
Michael-Anthony Nozzi

A Great Reacquaintance!
Received: 04/28/2008 @ 11:07am PST
From: Laura Jean
Hello there Charlie! It was very nice to see you again after 30 years ago, when I had a food booth at the Taste of San Pedro for my business McCowan's Market. Our business was a three generation company established in 1929 by Grandpa, John Guy McCowan. My father, Ayers McCowan came into the family business after the war in 1947. I was a baby boomer, like yourself. I came into the business in 1966 and had 42 wonderful years in the business. I had recently sold the business to another businessman that had failed the business in 8 months, that was a real heartbreaker for me, seeing that happen. Oh well, enough of me~ Charlie you look great, and it looks like you're having fun and doing well. I read through all of your history in radio-land, you are truly one of very few in your business that really puts your heart into what you do. Charlie, you are a parallel comparison in the music-world~what Vince Scully is to baseball and what Chick Hearn was to basketball. As you announce your show, you give a great play by play of the musicians and their history and also current happenings~ I'm sure the musicians like that a lot as I do as a K-EARTH listener. Another Kudos to you Charlie, when you talk on the phone to the listeners, your personality expresses a genuine sincerity that is very refreshing. Keep up the good work Charlie, from a very appreciative listener of yours. When you told me about your Mom in Nebraska with her computer and video camera, that really touched my heart~Kudos to you Charlie!
Sincerely, John McCowan

WHAT'S THE NAME OF THAT SONG?!?!
Received: 04/28/2008 @ 10:17am PST
From: Steve Terry
CHARLIE,
I WAS CLEANING OUT MY PARENTS GARAGE AND CAME ACROSS A BOX WITH A
BUNCH OF CASSETTES IN IT. ONE WAS LABLED 93 KHJ AND I PUT IT IN IN THE CAR TO LISTEN ON THE WAY HOME.EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONLY 30 MINUTES OF
ONE OF YOUR OLD SHOWS,THOSE 30 MINUTES SOUNDED GREAT.I RECOGNIZED ALL OF THE SONGS EXCEPT FOR ONE. IT WAS A SOUL SONG SANG BY A MAN AND A WOMAN WITH LYRICS SAYING "WE BEEN OUT EARNING MERITS AND PICKING WILD MOUNTAIN BERRIES. I DONT THINK IT WAS MARVIN AND TAMMI.DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR? WAS THIS SONG A HIT, OR A FLOP,AND LASTLY,WHO SANG IT?
STEVE
(NOTE TO STEVE: That was actually a hit on the KHJ Boss 30 charts in late 1968 called "Pickin' Wild Mountain Berries" by Peggy Scott and Jo Jo Benson. They had another hit we played in 1969 called "Soul Shake". Those were their only 2 "hits" during those 2 years. Hope that helps.)

I'm able to hear you again!
Received: 04/27/2008 @ 8:23pm PST
From: Carol Souza
Charlie,
You will not believe this. The morning I received your email a couple of months ago, I was driving to the gym and listening to K-Big, and after a few minutes of listening to Valentine I turned off the radio (I can not stand him) and thought to myself, where is my Charlie Tuna. When I got home and read your email I set my radio station to K-Earth and have been listening to all the old great songs. Now to my delight, on Saturday and Sunday while in the car I'm able to hear you again. I am now a K-Earth listener. Your fan.
